Andrei Arlovski vs. Junior Albini booked for UFC Fight Night 120
Andrei Arlovski will look to snap a career worst five-fight skid when he meets Junior Albini in a heavyweight bout at UFC Fight Night 120 on Nov. 11 at the Ted Constant Convocation Center in Norfolk, Va.

The UFC announced the bout Friday.

This will be Arlovski’s third appearance in 2017, with his first two ending in disappointing fashion. In January, the former UFC world champion was knocked out in just 92 seconds by Francis Ngannou, and that was followed by a unanimous decision loss in June to Marcin Tybura. During his 0-5 slump, “The Pit Bull” has lost by KO or submission four times.

Man.. if he loses, this will be 6 straight in the UFC. Has anyone lost more times than that in a row in the UFC without being cut? I can't even remember someone who has lost 5 straight and got a 6th fight.

Steve Cantwell lost 5 straight then retired. Anyone else?

I was so happy when Andrei went on that comeback run a few years ago... shit bums me out

Wow, I just realized that BJ has 5 straight losses. That is incredibly depressing. I basically had erased the Siver fight from my mind.

Elvis Sinosic and Phil Barony both had 6 loses in a row, for the UFC record.

Were they all in the UFC, or was the Stann he-match in WEC?

I love to see Arlovski still being booked.
It's a foregone conclusion that hes going to be being fed at 55 already, but something always happens.

Was doing some research on the most consecutive losses in the UFC because I really couldn't think of too many guys who went 5 straight without being cut.

Here's what I have so far. If you can think of any else please add to it. This doesn't include guys like Jorge Santiago who have fought a ton of times in the UFC but never won in various stints over the years, I'm talking consecutive UFC losses in a row.

Arlovski (5 straight, 1 sub and 2 KO losses)
BJ (5 straight, 2 TKO losses, and a draw before the loss)
Koscheck (5 straight in the UFC, 2 sub and 2 KO + his recent KO in Bellator)
Leonard Garcia (only 1 loss by stoppage, via twister to Korean Zombie)

Unless I'm forgetting some guys from the early days, that's all I can come up with... anyone else come to mind who have lost 5 or more?

You're not reading what I am saying.

I'm talking about losses in the row WITHOUT a break from the UFC. As in, 5 straight losses in 5 straight fights, all in the UFC.

Both Baroni and Sinosic, just like Santiago who I mentioned above, had fights in other promotions between their UFC stints. BJ, Koscheck, Garcia and Arlovski all lost 5 straight UFC fights.

sorry for being a dick man! It is sort of crazy though to think that all 4 of the guys mentioned above, who have lost 5 straight consecutive in the UFC, were not cut. Garcia I can see why I guess because of his fan friendly style, however, I think it speaks to a point that BJ and Andrei have been kept with the company and not released.. 5 years ago or so, I feel like they would've let them go after 4, Andrei after 3 for sure.. BJ MAYBE would get 5 because he's such a legend, but that said.. it feels like the UFC really doesn't want Bellator grabbing those 2 guys in particular.

BJ would be a big pickup for Bellator and Andrei vs Fedor 2 in Bellator would do a good rating, sadly. Another fight I hope never happens :-/ Still wish Fedor vs Meathead wasn't a thing.. blah

Would have to be his last if he loses. Makes the fight a bit more symbolic considering Albini just earned his first $100 in MMA. He could make a huge splash KO/TKOing Arlovski.

would any of Garcia's dubious decision wins extend that loss record if they had been scored correctly?

Gray Maynard had a few in a row but I'm doubtful it was 5...

Think Pete Sell lost a bunch in a row all in the UFC. Again don't think it got to 5 but it might have

I think Leonard Garcia lost five in a row before being cut. He got the fifth chance because most of his losses had been close and the fourth fight was an exciting split decision loss to Max Holloway that ended with Garcia powerbombing him in the final seconds. Sean Shelby actually told Garcia he could come back to the UFC if he won four straight on the indies. Sadly he only won two before losing again. He then retired, and I think he can be be proud of his career.

Jens Pulver lost five straight in the UFC-owned WEC before finally being cut. Then he went on a very sad run on the indies.

BJ Penn has lost five in a row now. If he retires now, he can still retire with dignity. WME isn't really about doing right by the fighters though.

Four straight first round (T)KOs too. As such the UFC has booked him for the next Japan show because they need regional names.

I mean, yeah, they could have put a young, exciting top 5 contender who's only ever lost to one of the greatest pound-for-pound fighters in the history of the sport in there instead, but Horiguchi had the fucking audacity, just the unbelievable NERVE! To ASK, for a RAISE!! What a prick!!

WME-IMG didn't get rich by writing a bunch of checks! In fact, they're drowning in debt, so they haven't gotten rich at all, but still.
