I saw this joke this morning and now I have orange juice all over my keyboard from laughing so hard.

As we know, misogyny permeates all areas of society, but I feel that nowhere is more evident than the arena of comedy. The Ghostbusters remake, which I felt was a laugh riot, was immediately torpedoed simply because of the all-female main cast. It's very rare for a female comedienne to break through the glass ceiling, and when they do they are often subjected to intense scrutiny and ridicule (i.e. Amy Schumer).

Bridesmaids was a surprisingly funny movie (prob had a male writer), but in general, no, they're not very funny.

I rarely find women comediennes to be as funny as male counterparts but I think that women writers can be really funny. It's just more clever/witty than the humor that a lot of men would write.

I really like Whitney Cummings' stand up and she's a great writer for sitcoms. I am not a fan of Iliza Shlesinger's style of comedy but it's also not written for men. Most of what she performs is geared directly to women and from a woman's point of view.

I can also say that to that point I'm not a big fan of a lot of black or minority comics who's entire act is based on being part of that community. They may be hilarious but it doesn't resonate with me as it's not written for me.
