I don't think he wanted the fight
I don't think Francis wanted the fight if it meant a 6-8 fight restrictive contract
Dig up some previous post if you want, I think Jon ducked HW due to sparring/domination vs Overeem about 7-10 years ago at Jackson's...he picks his fights and didn't want to fight a guy like Reem. If Jon fights 3-4 top HWs then he will prove me wrong as a HW juggernaut.
I think Francis hates the business restrictive UFC contract because he wants to turn into an ambassador/entrepreneur, he is still the best MMA HW on the planted but he is looking towards something beyond fighting while still in his prime(questionable but it is what it is)
As I've previously said, they can both have been avoiding the fight. At the end of the day Jon is the champ and Francis has no fights of any sort on the immediate horizon.
I think Francis went to too many DEI seminars.
