Ben Askren rips UFC's Colby Covington as 'poor man's version of me'

Ben Askren had some words for Colby Covington following Tyron Woodley’s victory in the UFC 228 main event.

Askren (18-0) is a training partner of Woodley (19-3-1 MMA, 9-2-1 UFC) at Roufusport Training Center in Milwaukee, Wis. He’s among one of the most outspoken figures in the sport, but is no longer active in the sport after competing in his retirement bout under the ONE Championship banner in November.

That hasn’t stopped Askren from voicing his opinion, though. And with Woodley seemingly lineup up to fight Covington following his win over Darren Till (17-1-1 MMA, 5-1-1 UFC) at UFC 228 on Saturday, “Funky” spoke out on behalf of his friend and training partner:

Overrated by who? Not too many people out there pumping Covingtons tires really. Out of the two I'd say it's Askrenw who's overrated.

Colby has beat Maia, RDA and DHK in his last three fights. Askrens last three are Aoki who's fought as low as FW and two other guys nobody's heard of. His NC to Santos was two minutes of Ben getting stuffed and hip tossed before the eye poke. Luis was ranked #52 at the time.
