I think its because Conor is literally the first of his kind. First Irishmen to really
become a star in MMA. So he carries much more on his shoulders then others
He means more to the irish then say an American making it big in MMA.

Americans have had so many MMA stars its not as important to us and holds less meaning.

Whether Conor likes it or not he carries a far bigger load then others.

Not his responsibility no. He doesn't owe the Irish anything. However he will
be held to a different standard and people will look for him to represent them
