World Wrestling Entertainment’s announcement of Brock Lesnar signing a new contract doesn’t mean that he won’t be fighting in the UFC in 2018.

Lesnar is one of the biggest pay-per-view draws in UFC history, and doubles as one of the biggest stars in pro wrestling with WWE. Being that valuable to both organizations has its perks, as shown by Lesnar’s negotiating strong three-year pro wrestling deals in both 2012 and 2015.

Like in 2015, where Lesnar teased going to UFC and was negotiating seriously with them until one week before WrestleMania, when it was announced he was staying with WWE, the same game was played this year, only stronger.

Since the start of the year, the word in wrestling was that Lesnar would leave after WrestleMania, where he would lose his Universal title to Roman Reigns, and then return to the UFC. Dana White over this past week on several occasions talked about Lesnar returning, and outright said his idea was to give him a heavyweight title shot at the winner of the Stipe Miocic vs. Daniel Cormier fight on July 7 in Las Vegas.

The length of Lesnar’s new deal was not announced, although sources close to the situation described it as a short-term deal. The deal, according to sources, does allow him to do at least one UFC fight. It is unclear if the deal allows for multiple UFC fights.

It then becomes a risk for the UFC to put Lesnar in a championship match if his existing contract would not allow him to defend the title. While he would not be favored against either Miocic or Cormier, stranger things have happened. A Lesnar win could put the UFC in a unique position that their champion was under contract to another organization and they may have to negotiate through WWE owner Vince McMahon to get a title defense.

A key aspect is that Lesnar, who pulled himself out of the USADA drug testing pool, had still not reentered, meaning he would need six months of clean tests before fighting. One would think he’d want to get the ball rolling if he was planning on fighting again since he turns 41 this summer.

Brock Lesnar signs new deal with WWE, but still has option for one UFC fight

Name his opponent if he takes the one UFC fight.

Good for Brock. Good for the UFC. Probably a bad deal for the WWE.

Let's set him up with Werdum, Volkov or Lewis. Nobody is serious about Jon Jones at this point right?

You watch MMA at all, or nah?
Has either guys suspension expired date been officially released? What about timing of it now with Brocks signing? I mean it's fun to talk about but they can't seem to match up active fighters who currently fight for the UFC who are in the same division still so...

They both want the fight and they're both in a holding pattern. You'd have to be on meth not the think that's the fight WME is chasing.

I imagine they'll rush him straight into a title fight, because they won't want to take a chance that he'll get murked by some no name contender.

Will probably be Brock vs winner of DC/Stipe.

Allow me to float another potential scenario...

Bobby Lashley re-emerged in the WWE as of yesterday. He's also an MMA fighter, of course. That could create a crazy situation where the WWE promotes a Brock vs. Lashley MMA-style feud and then the two of them might climb in the cage in the UFC to ultimately settle the score.

It would further blur the lines between WWE scripting and the legit fights held in MMA so I don't care for the idea but who knows what Vince and Dana might agree to.

You'd have to be on meth if you would've predicted us seeing Al vs Khabib for the title a week ago but I guess you never know right? Brock and Jones would be a fun watch but WME can't seem to pair up top guys who have nothing stopping them from fighting except themselves. Once both guys have an official return to work date I'll take it more seriously. Until then it's in the same drawer as Cyborg vs Rousey.

Brock can come back immediately if reports of his contract are true.

I'm seeing his suspension was frozen and he has to serve the remaining time. He also has to reenter USADA testing pool.

Lesnar would have to finish out his suspension related to the aforementioned anit-doping violation and re-enter the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency drug testing pool, but he could easily return to the UFC, and White believes he will.

Dana White: Brock Lesnar Still Under UFC Contract, Miocic vs. Cormier Winner a Real Possibility

MSN is saying 6 months left in an article from yesterday. It wont allow me to cut and paste but here you go.

WWE announces Brock Lesnar re-signing; what does that mean for UFC return?

I wasn't aware that they could do that they could do that with a suspension, seems kind of ridiculous. I thought people were hung up on the actual testing.
