Can a boxing fan give me some info on this guy and how he got this fight?

They didn't want to fight him because at the stage of his career he was trying to fight them it wasn't competitive fights. Shannon was talking himself into money fights by badgering bigger stars than him.Shannon was a bad ass back in the day but spiralled out of control until he woke up one day and said "let's go champ, you need too get moving or die"......he hits like a Mack truck and klitchkso (the more famous on the 2 and David haye) don't want to fight him because he's is a tough out and could ko them.
He was a champ back in the day, beat foreman I believe for the championship

He definitely wants to be paid. I'd actually like to see it now though, either one.They didn't want to fight him because at the stage of his career he was trying to fight them it wasn't competitive fights. Shannon was talking himself into money fights by badgering bigger stars than him.
Klitschko UD him in a boring fight. Briggs was a walking punching bag.He definitely wants to be paid. I'd actually like to see it now though, either one.

@ConorGOAT ?
What's the misfortune of fighting in the Lewis era?With K1 they were all about sending washed up boxers in there to get killed by professional kickboxers. Frans Botha, Ray Mercer, Butterbean, Vince Phillips, etc. Lucky for Shannon he was matched up with an MMA guy, not a real K1 killer.
Background on Shannon Briggs is he was a very good HW with HUGE punching power. Has asthma so what he accomplished is very impressive. Rose to prominence by beating George Foreman in a very controversial decision that most (including myself) thought he lost.
Unfortunately for him and the rest of the very good HWs of that time, he had the misfortune of fighting in the Lennox Lewis era. Lennox beat the shit out of him, like he did to everyone else in the 90s.
Then in the last 5 years or so he started popping up again in hilarious videos where he would call out (then) champ Wlad Klitschko. Yelling at him at a restaurant, knocking him off a paddle board, etc, and gained a cult following for his crazy antics. Now he's moved on to trolling guys like David Haye. He's in the middle of a comeback, has strung together 9 straight wins in the last couple of years.
Finally he's been granted a shot at Lucas Browne's HW belt, but it hasn't happened yet because Lucas has failed two straight drug tests and is suspended. Shannon rules and I wish him nothing but the best.
Lennox Lewis was a legit ATG and head and shoulders above most guys at the time. Even Riddick Bowe chose to vacate his title and throw it in the garbage rather than fight Lennox (Lennox TKO'd Bowe in the Olympics to win a gold medal for Canada).What's the misfortune of fighting in the Lewis era?
That's some good insight, thanks Danny. I'm going to listen to that whole JRE as this guys seems pretty interesting.Lennox Lewis was a legit ATG and head and shoulders above most guys at the time. To put it into perspective, it's like guys who are unfortunate enough to be fighting in the McGregor era. Aldo probably could have run the FW division until he was 40 if it wasn't for McGregor popping up.
Lets go champ!That's some good insight, thanks Danny. I'm going to listen to that whole JRE as this guys seems pretty interesting.
