A buddy and I were going over who we think will die in the upcoming Civil War movie. Here's what we came up with. Discuss.

Most likely to die in reverse order:

5. Bucky Barnes (Winter Soldier)
4. Iron Man (Tony Stark)
3. Hawkeye
2. Director Fury
1. Captain America

In the comics, directly after Civil War, a character who has been confirmed to be in Civil War puts Cap down with a sniper shot. We think it's pretty likely this will be how Marvel will end this movie.

Doesn't Bucky end up being the new cap?
I can't see Stark dying, not until the gauntlet.
Although RDJ is said to have held up negotiations for Civil War, leading to more screentime(thus giving the impression of future expendability), he's an integral part of the Infinity Wars, no?

It's a shame any have to die.
I hope it's not Renner either.

Notes on your list:
1. I expect that Cap eventually will be killed, but Evans is under contract for at least one more movie.
2. Fury was fake-killed in Cap 2. It'd be dumb as shit to do it again in Cap 3.
3. Maybe. He's just a supporting character, except for the weird cottage scene in Avengers 2.
4. The least likely to die, IMO. I think he just extended his contract.
5. He also has a long contract, presumably so he can take over if Evans doesn't sign an extension.

This.
Bucky will become the new Cap. Evans could fulfill his final film as a flash back or something like his appearance in Thor 2.

Last I heard, they are still in negotiations with Sony about Spider-Man. Regardless, no, there is no footage yet.

Robert Downey is too popular with Iron Man, doubt they would kill their cash cow. Bucky is like the Yeoman Johnson of Marvel movies, easily killed, imo.

Iron Man sees everyone dead in the vision that Scarlet Witch gave him. We can assume that these visions are more or less true because we know that much of Thor's vision is real... if only metaphorically true. He sees Hulk impaled, Cap's shield broken, and everyone (except Black Widow?) dead. We know that RDJ doesn't want to do more movies. Last I had heard, he had one movie past Civil War, which is the Infinity War, but we don't know how much of it he will do since the movie has since been split into two parts.

My money is on many people dying in Civil War, and Iron Man dying in the first half of Infinity War.

Assuming that, we can't kill off people who have movies coming up (Ant-Man, Wasp, Thor, Black Panther, Dr. Strange, Guardians, Inhumans, Ms. Marvel... etc... you get the idea). We can also assume that Marvel isn't going to just kill off Spider-Man. Vision is nearly indestructible, Thor is a god, Hulk is basically indestructible... so that doesn't leave many to list. Of those, the only person who HAS died in the comics is Cap, and he was killed by a guy who appears IN Civil War.

For a time, I believe Bucky took Cap's place, but was ultimately replaced by Falcon. I don't see them killing off BOTH Cap and Bucky, and I don't think they've developed Falcon enough to give him Cap's mantle.

I doubt we'll see any footage of spiderman before the movie is out. Marvel is keeping that aspect of the movie super secret.
My money is on him having a VERY small role - almost a cameo - despite having a very important part in the beginning of the Civil War comics.

A lot of old info being posted. Negotiations with Sony about Spider-Man wrapped up a long time ago, and RDJ signed an extension.

The MCU (Earth 199999) branches off significantly in many different aspects from the 616 comics. I wouldn't use the 616 universe as a 100% accuracy reference. This is going to sounds a little elitist, but Marvel and its affiliates felt they had to make the movie universe more mainstream. There are plenty of story lines you're not going to see in the MCU, and plenty of stories that they kept are going to be tweaked.

I think his part will be substantial. Otherwise they would have just made the movie without spider-man.

Yeah. You're probably right. A lot of old information. Useless, really. Like, this article from a month ago saying exactly what I said, and completely the opposite of what you just said. Old info. I probably shouldn't have even posted it using such definitive terms such as "last I heard"

Spider-Man To Remain Absent From ‘Captain America: Civil War’ Trailers And Posters

And that extension you discuss was from two years ago. But no, everything I said was wrong.

Cap 3 is the can. Spider-Man is in it as a result of completed negotiations with Sony, which still retains some rights that can be negotiated away separately. They didn't simply sell everything back to Marvel.

The RDJ article actually CONFIRMS that he signed an extension awhile ago. The only uncertainty is whether they'll make Iron Man 4. Nobody cares about that, because IM3 sucked and RDJ was used better in the other films.

Disney is very strategic about its films, writing scripts, signing actors, and planning them many years in advance.
