Check the thread 'It gets worse for Conor' by Slaphead Giraffe for the video. I'm posting this more explicit thread title so that people don't ignore that original thread.
There always seems to be a bizarre tendency among the media (especially hack MMA 'journalists') to focus on the wrong story, which then influences how fans react.
There is also a tendency for PR people, adept in their craft, to get their clients to offer mea culpas for these lesser crimes to distract from the real issue. Conor and the UFC would like us to focus on the Goddard incident only because the PR machine can go to work explaining Conor's supposed prior beef with Goddard. But it's hard to justify the punch.
I'm not sure what it's like where you are from, but where I'm from punching someone is considered by the legal system to be a lot worse than pushing someone. The guy was doing his job in trying to prevent Conor entering the cage/sitting on top of it - the argument that 'he pushed him first' is ridiculous - that's like saying it's Ok to punch a security guard that stops you from rushing the stage at a concert.
