My husband has a client that wants to take us and another couple to a country club for rich people for dinner next week. The only things I know about country clubs come from romance novels and movies.

I looked on the website and there is a massive dress code. It says I should wear slacks or a dress, but it doesn't say if it can be a casual dress or if it should be super formal like a prom dress, or if I wear slacks if my top should be sparkly or if it can be business-like or just kind of nice. ???

Should I be shiny or sparkly? Or can I just be plain and normal?

Do you have anything that's really nice, but simple that you can easily class up with some sort of accessories? Think how a man can go from some nice slacks and a button up to a next level with just the addition of a nice jacket. That's probably how I would roll.

dress nice, but not formal. if you're ever feeling uncomfortable, retreat to the bar, that's where you find the other non-members who also find all the pomp & circumstance silly, depending on the club. when you're at the bar, ask the most uncomfortable looking person 'has everyone asked you if you're a member?' & you'll be fast friends. I've never been a member but I've been to several, about half are just comfortable places for guys who just like to golf & get away, the other half are the snobbiest places I've ever been, just be prepared for both

This is good advice.

If I were to add something to it, it would be to find the hottest woman there and grab a big hand full of titty.

that should go without saying. basically you should google 'common strip club behaviors' & try to perform 5 of the top ten as quickly as possible

on a serious note, joining a country club is a big goal for a lot of people, depending on the club & city. many have worked their whole lives for a chance to have a seat at that table in that place. a compliment on whatever catches your eye first or whatever role they have there (no matter how small) goes a long way

dress codes vary from club to club a lot. We are casual most of the time so jeans are allowed. Just a collared shirt for the gentleman is normally required.
