I've mentioned this in a few cult threads over the years, but back in the early '10s, CW had an *excellent* tv show called "Cult".
It was perhaps one of the first real "meta" type shows or attempts at entertainment as it was a show inside of a show. Hard to explain.
It was a tv show on CW called "Cult"...and it was about a tv show on CW called "Cult". In the show they portrayed being filmed, it was a cult that had bled over into real life.
It was too bad because the show started off fantastic, and I think was getting pretty good traction, but then CW put it on hiatus for a month for some reason (I forget why). Then it got brought back on a different night & at a terrible time (Friday night or something) with almost no advertising. Viewership tanked and they pulled the plug mid-season. They actually had several episodes ready & in the can, but they didn't even air them. They eventually got released on CW's site or something like that. Not sure if the story was ever finished.
It's on some of the bootleg sites if you dig that kinda thing.
