His BJJ is unbelievable. One of his opponents was the head instructor at another school in my town and he was none too pleased with the blindfold thing, and Daniel is taking heat for it online. I am just in awe of the level of BJJ these guys have, and frankly I am jealous that I will never approach that level.

I understand why people have been upset but I think a lot of people misunderstood what his purpose was in doing this.

Seems weird that guys just kept trying their 'go-to' moves, instead of analyzing the situation and trying to find the technique/takedown that would be hardest to defend without sight, or at least trying to chain techniques together. Probably a good amount of hesitancy in not wanting to get beat by a blindfolded guy, especially a top-level competitor that also has a school in the same area. But if that's your issue, put on a blindfold or keep your eyes closed.

I was very impressed with the way he defended the foot sweep, he had the weight off the foot before his opponent even shot in to hook the leg.

Didn't know BJJMMA @BJJMMA trained with Brandon. I trained with him at the NW NoGi Summit a couple years ago. Super-cool guy, still use the standing Estima lock variation he taught. Bro-Fist.

It's crazy. Brandon said it is remarkable how good Daniel is blindfolded. I think he finished 3rd blindfolded.

Yeah, I met Brandon a couple years back. I was ridiculously obese. He mentioned trying BJJ. I've been with him regularly ever since. I did have to take time off for injury but I am usually training with him 2-3 times a week. He is a great coach for anyone at any level.
