Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) made a few modifications to its official rankings this week, and two of the biggest changes came from fighters who did not compete at UFC Chile last weekend on FOX Sports 1.

Kamaru Usman is up, Demian Maia is down, for those of you who care about what’s happening in the 170-pound weight class.

The bigger story is Mackenzie Dern getting booted from the strawweight list, following fan (and fighter) backlash over her inability to make the 115-pound limit for her fight against Amanda Bobby Cooper at UFC 224 earlier this month in Brazil, yet earning a spot among the division’s elite anyway...

Usually we don't like the idea of the UFC messing with the rankings, but in this case it was the right call...or maybe what they should have done is boot the media out of it listing this as one example of incompetence, and come up with a new idea for doing the rankings.

So they made a decision and then ran it back because the fans and a few fighters complained? So now we've set a precedent that if you don't like a certain ranking, you can just whine about it and it'll be changed? What a joke.

They need to completely clean house on those who vote and bring in new blood, there's no coming back from an embarrassment like this.

I believe moving Siver up so McGregor was fighting a top ten opponent was worse. Or Rashad being the undisputed number 4 LHW for a good year or two did it. While he wasn’t competing.

They most certainly changed it because a few people complained in the grand scheme of things. This is the same company that weren’t going to punish Jones for being Jones until people pointed out thatd be a decent gesture. They are gonna move her back in no time when another Strawweight loses.

Would rather they not change their ranking methods. I get healthy laugh reading their individual rankings after every card.
