I thought it was fake because the flip just looked strange.

But there are multiple angles posted.

The story behind the boat is even crazier.

Twin 522 ci blown alcohol Noonan Hemi
4000 hp each

Two friends were pissed that the record holder at Lake of the Ozarks was a Sheik who built a boat for a single race, set the record and then never returned. They started a GoFundMe campaign but that wasn't generating enough funds so all that money was returned and they funded their project through private interests and sponsorships.

The drivers choose to keep their anonymity, and they identify themselves as "John Wayne" and "Clint Eastwood" in the media.

The fact that they weren't killed in this accident speaks volumes to the safety of the hull.

Dude on a news report said that the radar picked them up at doing 200 mph. I've been going to hydroplane races my entire life, and if I had to guess the speed at the time of the flip I would have guessed 130 or so. But the size of the boat and how far away it is can be deceptive to guess speed.

At 200 - if that's an accurate number - that might explain the weird-looking flip.

Damn, surprised they made it out of that
2 things.

Drivers were in a capsule. Sort of like fighter jet.
Boat was in the air for a long time which would have significantly slowed it down before impact.
