Anyone here who has antenna TV who uses a digital recorder to record shows?
I’ve looked at TiVo, Tablo, etc. and most have like 3.5 stars. The low ratings seem to be mostly from clunky recording interfaces. However, these might be from people whose VCRs perpetually flashed 12:00. I bought one of those cheap no name ones from Walmart that worked for a while, then died.

I didn't even know that was a thing

I had a recorder/DVD burner for a while.
I had recorded all the elitexc stuff and other randomstuff from aroundthen, had a bunch of disc's.

Machine died, as they do, and the disc's were in a box for a decade.
Pulled em out and put em into a player only to discover that it was some fucked proprietary software or some shit, nothing was playable.

10 years hauling them around, lol. Probably moved them 5 times.

This kind of confirms my suspicion that it’s not dummy proof and the negative reviews reflect that.
Well, I've had my old one for about 6 years. It's pretty plug and play. It still works but it's a generation behind.

I like it because I only have to have 1 antenna and it streams over all my TVs on the wifi. I can also stream to my phone. When you record you can stream to any device.

I only cited that because most of the negative comments in reviews made it sound difficult. There were a few comments where people said they only had them a year or so and they stopped working, and also a few said sometimes things they had set up to record did not. However, I’m used to that because I have Sling for streaming non-OTA channels and even it fails to record shows on occasion.
I do have a related question: I already have an outdoor antenna that we use for local network channels. I know it will work with those because the product description says so, but I’m curious if the actual Tablo antenna is recommended. I’ve tried some indoor antennas and didn’t have a lot of luck with them.

As long as your roku, firestick, or smart TV has the app and is on your wifi, it finds the box and connects to it.
