Probably a bit early to celebrate.

North Korea has wanted this meeting for a long time but the US wouldn't commit to direct talks without confirmed pre-conditions. This isn't Trump convincing North Korea to come to the table. This is giving up a position of power and legitimizing a terrorist.

North Korea has prefaced that this talk would be about the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. Most likely this means that North Korea will claim to denuclearize if the United States leaves South Korea, maybe also Japan. Leaving both countries would greatly diminish the US’s ability to project power in the area, and I think what we’d find is that within a few years, North Korea would have restarted their nuclear program if they ever really stopped. Removing the US out of the region would greatly play into the hands of China and Russia, who not only have helped North Korea skirt US sanctions, but likely are helping to orchestrate this move.

Trump doesn’t appear to understand how geopolitics work, and hasn’t shown an aptitude for things like power projection or soft power. Trump’s ego sees being the one to bring peace to the Koreas as outweighing any loss of status in the global order.

If you keep talking like that Kid Rock isn't going to bring you any fireworks on the 4th of July.

The South Koreans just spoke and said Trump's actions brought it all to this juncture. There's no way for liberals to spin this one, it's a HUGE win to Trump that can't possibly be understated.

Trump made a dangerous unpredictable dictator with nuclear capabilities TAP OUT. Hooooooooly fuuuuuuuuuuuuuck!

He's gone from making America great again to making the world great again. Trump will go over there, track mud in Kim Jong's palace and fuck his bitch sideways, he totally son'd him.
They're trying to spin it
It's fucking sad when bias clouds your thought base to that fucking degree

Like nugget in this thread
Just admit the fucking guy did good here
Nugget is trolling but a lot of liberal are not

I would like nothing more than to be wrong about Donald Trump. I hope he becomes the greatest president ever. Not because I am a Democrat or a Republican but because I am a American.
You sir are a winner
This is how (imo) everyone should feel about this
Can still hate the guy for his policies or whatever, but he did fucking good in this situation and it should be commended

Things I learned from this thread.
  • Trumpists desperately needed a win they could masturbate to - in a circle.
  • @Splinty is a Cot Damn stalker and keeps receipts.
Enjoy your Trumpfellatio gentlemen (and I use that term loosely). You've earned it for once, especially if this leads to peace on earth, then it's a good thing.
Actually a nice post
I was not expecting this
I'm so confused right now lol

How did I know the 1 agree was going to be nugget
You do make some good points but are assuming Trump is not aware of this which I feel you are incorrect on

I don't know if anything will come of this, but having a true discussion is moving in a much more positive direction imo
I just can't see telling them to fuck off at every corner (past admins) is better than a face to face discussion

The Kenyan didn't do shit other than sign his name
Even you aren't stupid enough to believe that.

The deal was agreed to mostly by former U.S. SOS John Kerry and Iranian FM Javad Zarif, who of course had to get approval from their respective bosses (President Obama and President Rouhani).
