The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) is suing Meathead Movers, a California-based moving company, for targeting high school and college athletes in job postings and social media emphasizing strength and fitness. The lawsuit, filed in Fresno’s federal court, seeks to force Meathead Movers to hire older workers and pay unspecified damages, potentially threatening the company’s financial stability.

What a joke
You have to be in shape, want to make some money, be earning it on a daily basis and be able to show up the next day and not call in because your knee is sore

THANK GOD! What a relief to know that our tax dollars are hard at work targeting such nefarious, ill-inentioned, bad actors such as "Meathead Movers".

Now that those menaces to society, federal govt can *finally* go try to tackle homelessness, drugs, illegal immigration and terrorism.

It's good to know our govt has its priorities straight!

These guys started in SLO quite a while back. Think the founder was a year or so ahead of me at calpoly. They earned themselves a good reputation around the SLO area even though their prices were a bit higher than others. They did a good job, were always on time, communicated openly & regularly, employees were polite & clean. I never had an issue with them. Even hired them to move my in-laws up to the Sacramento area a few years back.

I know there was a falling out with the owner & some of the original employees about 15-20yrs ago but the vast majority of people there were happy with their employment status.

Early on they did take advantage of their close ties to Calpoly for employees, as they should & as others do. But even 15yrs ago there was plenty of older employees in their 20’s through 40’s working there.

If you’re not physically capable of doing the job, why would you want it? Can I sue nasa because they won’t hire me to be an astronaut even though I’m not mentally capable to do the job?

Looks like I was wrong about them being ahead of me at calpoly. They’re about 2-3yrs behind me. Everything else is still accurate

One thing I didn’t mention is that Meathead Movers is one of the best business for giving back to the community. During the holidays they use their moving trucks & employees for donations, they do fundraising & even move people out of domestic violence situations for free. It’s things like that which earned them such a great reputation around the SLO area.

There was a moving company on Shark Tank that I think ended up being pretty successful aimed specifically at college students.

Its target market was to move students into / out of campus at the beginning & end of semesters.

It also hired students to provide them part-time income / employment while they were studying.

Can the feds next please sue them for not targeting non-students, as well as ensuring they hire an adequate amount of senior citizens?

Same at Gunnison State in Colorado, there's a moving co that basically employs the wrestling team year round.
Hell, Shane Carwin may have worked for them...

My Dad owned a moving company, a North American Van Lines agent. Some sketchers around the country you would get for swampers... very few jocks... not pro jocks anyway... like the Llama...

There is a legit art to getting awkward furniture out of tight spaces. I've seen pianos lowered of the balcony of apartments and box springs cut in half, mind you this was on a military base where time means more then your bed...lol.

I hired local movers to get a hidabed sectional out of my basement because I didn't want to and it ended up me and pops moving it anyway because after a few hrs of watching these boys struggle to try and get around the corner and up the stairs, we said fuck it and got it out with a few twists and turns.

There's also an art to loading a moving van to get max tonnage cause that's how they get paid. You should not be able to put a hand through a tier anywhere.

When I was still managing a retail lumber store I got tons of resumes. When you’re newer you spend a lot of time putting away lots of products and most of it is heavy. They learn where the product goes, they learn how to handle it properly, and it got them out of my fucking hair.

If I got an immigrants resume I ignored it. I didn’t want to deal with it and since we’re selling to the public some broken English moron would only cause issues for everyone involved including the customer. Any woman was an immediate nope because they can only do part of the job and they always cause problems because the staff has to change everything about how they interact with each other. If they were old it’s a no. If they were fat it’s a no.

If I was told I had to hire someone based on anything but ability I would’ve told them to go fuck their hat.
