Good for him! Classic rags to riches story and who can begrudge the guy success when he's working his ass off in the gym and in the cage to be the best HW in the world:

The UFC’s best heavyweight prospect in ages will make $500,000 for his title challenge against Stipe Miocic, he told SFR Sport in France in a video published last week. Miocic defends the UFC heavyweight belt against Ngannou in the main event of UFC 220 on Saturday in Boston.

Ngannou (11-1) was born in Cameroon and he said on the show that he immigrated illegally to France years ago. He worked as a bricklayer in Cameroon, he said, and did the work of two to three men. Ngannou, 31, has stormed onto the scene as an MMA fighter, winning his first six UFC fights by finish to earn this title shot.

Ngannou, who has since moved to Las Vegas where he trains at the UFC Performance Institute, is actually a slight betting favorite going in against Miocic.

Now, that said, can we go back and examine why Darren Till made $16,000 to show and $16,000 to win in his last fight against Cowboy? Something ain't right about that!!!

Good for him for getting paid.

However

It says a lot when he's getting paid more than some champs.

Wonder what he will get paid in his next figjt if he loses?

I remember Daniel Cormier making double his normal salary when it was a title fight (he explained why he was making less after taking the Anderson Silva fight on short notice), so maybe Ngannou makes 250k.

DC was champ at the time though

Meh. That's seriously not bad for a first-time title challenger with 6 UFC fights. Far bigger injustices to worry about with U Fight Cheap pay.

The way PPVs have been going, it is likely this card only does around 200k buys. DC got paid a million for his last fight, Stipe recently renegotiated so he will be on better coin for this fight, and Volkan will get paid more too. They will save costs on a terribly shit undercard, but it's likely that total fighter pay will be significantly higher as a percentage of total revenue than normal.

And they could have paid Francis less, guaranteed. My guess is that they're betting on a Francis victory (this is pretty obvious) and are paying him more now in an attempt to low-ball him later when his value has significantly increased.

That's not too bad. Stipe was only making 65/65 before he won the belt. Then it went to $600k per fight in his two title defenses (but he also presumably got PPV points for those two defenses as well)

Stipe Miocic Career Earnings | MMA Manifesto
I would presume that if Stipe got PPV points, and my money would be on that he doesn't, it would be one of those benchmark deals that is heavily in the UFC's favor (naturally). I would highly doubt Stipe is going to make bank off a 200k-250k PPV. I hope that I'm wrong as until proven otherwise, Stipe is the baddest man on the planet - P4P can suck a dick.

The problem is, Ngannou won’t have a huge pool of challengers if he wins. It’s just the same group that’s been there seemingly forever and HW prospects are few and far between.

Stipe Miocic Career Earnings | MMA Manifesto
The guy Stipe defended against, in Cleveland, made $829,500. Stipe made $690,000 ($600,000 show, $50,000 Fight of the Night bonus, $40,000 Reebok sponsorship) as champion, which probably contributed to Miocic being disgruntled about the way his contract was structured. I also wouldn't assume he made a significant amount from pay per view sales prior to his newest deal, which, by the way, he's still not entirely happy about (listen to his most recent MMA Hour appearance).

Agree with the first part of your post, informative for the second part.

No idea why you'd assume that. It's been stated multiple times by different people that title holders get PPV points.

I seriously doubt his dollar amount per PPV buy is even half of Conor's (points usually increase gradually anyway depending on how many buys an event has), but I'd be willing to bet that he gets points as a champion.

No one will ever be happy while McGregor can tell the UFC to pay guys 500k and him 10mil while the majority make less than 100k per fight. That situation has also highlighted how much fighter pay the UFC take for themselves ... most of it basically.

Is there anyone that agrees Dana White should be earning 20million+ per year?

To me that's 18million+ that should've gone to fighters instead of some fat cunt :D

His payout for beating Overeem in his last fight was $90,000 ($40,000 to show, $40,000 win bonus, $10,000 Reebok sponsorship). He didn't get any of the "* of the night" bonuses.

I doubt that he reverts to his old payout structure if he loses though.

I could be wrong, but I doubt it.

Good ol' Danus said he'd "take care of him" though, so I imagine that means that Francis got a $3,000 check and a voucher for a week of free meals at the UFC Performance Institute.

The vouchers can be redeemed at the all you can eat buffet, so if Ngannou plays it right he CAN get his moneys worth!!
