Holly Holm ready to fight 'beatable' UFC champ Cris Cyborg ... if the terms are right

Holly Holm is ready and willing to fight UFC featherweight champion Cris Cyborg as soon as possible – she just wants to make sure all the terms are correct, specifically when it comes to financial compensation.

There are many fighters unwilling to face Cyborg (18-1 MMA, 3-0 UFC), who has been one of the most dominant figures in the sport over her more than 12-year undefeated run. Ex-champ Holm (11-3 MMA, 4-3 UFC) is not only of them, but she knows a bout the magnitude of one against the Brazilian is worthy of a significant deal.



“I don’t get too nitpicky with a lot of stuff,” Holm told MMAjunkie. “I don’t want to be a whiny fighter. She better make weight, I’ll tell you that. I do feel like the compensation should be a lot more, based on the fact it’s the biggest girls fight anyone can have right now; that’s my reasoning. I feel like we should be compensated for it. That has nothing else to do with anything else other than it’s just a factual thing. That has nothing to do with the drama or anything else.”

Why do people keep putting WTF emoji on my post? Holly is annoying in and out of the cage. In the cage all she does is move around and barely throw strikes. Unless you leave your self completely open or go at her like ROnda did her fights are terrible and she does nothing and then comes out after the fight and makes excuses. She probably couldve fought cris already but her and her coach make excuses and backed out and now its about oh the money needs to be right. The money needs to be right period not just because of this fight and when the money isnt right she will back out and blame it on the money.

HA funny you say that because i LOVED her because of that but got really annoyed with her with every fight after and what she would say after. Same as i did when weidman who you know is my boy but when he started talking about superfights i was like chill bro you still need to do a whole lot to get there and we saw how that went down.

I'm not a big supporter or detractor of Holm. Imo nothing she can do will ever trump her Ronda fight so its gotta be tricky to pick her path now. I can't think of any other fight of hers that I enjoyed.

I do think Holly's bicycle benefits her 'somewhat' - enough to draw the fight out, but not enough to win. Eventually 'Borg catches her.

The fight, no, probably not.
The stylistic matchup is how I see it being similar.
Wand & Cyborg are similar as built berserkers, with power being generated from their chest and momentum.
Holly and Chuck work angles and counter, sometimes backing up.
And they generally counter with precision.
Chuck obviously more effective in the KO department.
Where I see this as dangerous for Cyborg is she's fighting someone her size, and strong, with multiple professional boxing titles, who's not intimidated by her.
She will attempt to fight her fight, and has everything to gain, again.
If Cyborg decides to keep it standing, she may end up on the wrong side of a decision or worse.
We saw this with Baars defeat of Cyborg, two similar but different worlds.
And we've seen Holly already fight her own "Cyborg" in Anne Sophie Mathis, overcome those fears and come back.
Cyborg would be best to berserk her way in to Holly's range and take it to the ground and end it there.
Age might be a wash as Cyborg has put arguably more abuse on her body.

So that's how I see it, a dangerous fight for Cris.
I don't see her overcoming her desire for the knockout if it stays and becomes competetive on the feet.
And if that plays out, I think Holly gets her hand raised.
That would be bittersweet for many, as Cyborg has been the unheralded baddest chick on the planet for a decade, while simultaneously being an obvious PED user.
The competetion has finally arrived in chicks like De Randamie, Holly, and Nunes(skillwise).
