So my daughter went to have her truck inspected and her summer tires put on yesterday. Garage calls and says she has three stripped wheel studs. Total bill is going to be 225 dollars. They also told her she would need 3 new lug nuts when they swap the tires in the fall.

They are the ones who put her snow tires on in the fall.

This same garage sold me 50,000 mile tires for my wife's FJ and then told me 2 years later that we needed to replace the tires. I was like uh, you put them on 2 years ago and there is less than 18,000 miles on them. They then told me there a 125 deductible per tire to replace them. Haven't been back since. I told my daughter not to take her truck there.

Let it go as a teaching moment for her or call them up and be like wtf.

Well, either way neither of you are going back there. So it comes down to if you feel like yelling and what you expect to get out of it?

Teaching moment. IIRC, she is an adult now? Or at least close. Past like 16 yeah, they should now be learning to lie in the bed they make. This is relatively harmless so a good opportunity.

I always go to Discount Tire Co. Not sure if you have them there, great company.

Understandable, but keep in mind that she's probably not yet over the self-inflicted trauma of worrying whether or not having a black dude detail her car is racist.

She's obviously not capable of thinking clearly right now with the weight of that still on her mind.

I take my stuff to a one man garage, where I told her to take it, she didn't listen.

It's across the street so at least she got to hang out with my wife drinking beer playing pool while they were screwing up her truck, hope that was worth the 225!

Let it roll and don't go back. Spread the word that they're liars.

I tell everyone that, even my daughter, seems everytime we took a vehicle to them it was an 800 dollar bill, didn't matter what it was. Haven't been back to them in years outside of an oil change.

Last one they said the brakes and a couple other things needed to be replaced that they discovered during the safety check. Quote was like 2300. My guy inspected the truck a month later and never mentioned an issue with the brakes.

There all over in Texas. I've them for years. Have had tires damn near bald. Get a nail in the sidewall. Pay there insurance deductible. Get a brand new tire.

They will also plug a tire for free for anyone on any tire. Their thinking is you'll come back to them at some point. If it can be plugged they will, they won't lie to sell you tires. I've never had a bad experience there.

My dumbass brother(the eldest) took his car in after he heard a rattle. Before that, I suggested he check his trunk. He ignores me of course as he has "warranty with Nissan". They shoot him a $200 bill and show him the loose tire wrench by his spare.

I know an older lady who swears the dealership tires are more better cuz they know her car best. This is absolute bullshit right? Just like oil changes at the dealership? Last year they charged her a grand for new tires on a Toyota sedan that's a handful of years old...

I have a 2018 F-150 with the original tires on it, we are like at 45,000 miles. I thought for sure there would be an issue last inspection, but even 7 years later, no dry rot, tread is still great, I will be getting the same ones when it is time.

Yes, bullshit. Oil change, overpriced bullshit. You're not getting their master mechanic to pull your drain plug and put it back in. You're getting the same fuck wad that got fired from the nearest quick lube for coming in high. But you're paying more for it.

She’s perfect for a dealership.
