Forgive me for I have sinned. It has been years since my last viewing. Just popped this bitch in the player and about to get my nostalgia on.
Hell, I might watch Robocop tomorrow night, the joys of being home alone.
Thoroughly enjoyed it. Unlike some of you young bucks, I was 28 when this came out. Hard to believe it was 38 years ago. Unlike a lot of ‘80s movies, it holds up well. Some gratuitous pyrotechnics, and everyone knows 40mm grenades are spin-armed and won’t blow up if made into an arrow or spear head. No? Oh, well… all that aside, it’s a great sf movie for any era.
I bought that Blu-ray 7-8 years ago, but had never watched it. My last time seeing it was when I taped it off cable when it first ran on there, and it’s been probably 30 years since I watched it with my son, who was only 3 when it came out in ‘87.

Predator, Aliens, the Thing. The holy trinity of Sci-fi.
I’m kind of with you, but you got two action sci-fi and a horror sci-fi. I’d throw Total Recall as mentioned above to round out the three action ones and put The Thing with the original Alien in the Horror category along with maybe Life, but there may be more “classic” ones that aren’t coming to mind.

The first Terminator is a horror but sorry no subcategories and the trinity as 3 stays. I dont eat 4 fries and I refuse to be force fed any of your inferior suggestions.

You be you! I be me, except on the days when I’m somebody else. Happens more often as I age.

Uh, blade runner anyone?
Absolutely one of my favorite movies. I thought the sequel didn’t suck, either. Kind of goes back to my subcategories of sci-fi movies but kind of straddles a line between the action genre like Aliens, Predator, etc. and high concept stuff like 2001:ASO and Interstellar.
Incidentally, another movie like this that I really like also happens to feature Schwarzenegger, The Sixth Day. It’s an action movie but has philosophical elements regarding the morals of human cloning. A similar movie is Impostor, also based on a Philip K. Dick story. Hell, I’d even throw Oblivion in there. One of the better Cruise movies in my opinion, right next to Edge of Tomorrow.

Saw that at IMAX, entertaining movie for sure, but II wouldn't put it up there with the classics.

The noise that those flying alien orb things made was awesome on the IMAX sound system though, you could feel the bass rumble through your feet.

Oh, hell no. Never meant to imply it was anywhere near that league. Just got to riffing on movies about clones and/or replicants and that one came to mind. Imposter is a bit of both: they’re replicants but copies of actual people. I liked that movie but I only saw it once when it was new. Looked it up and found it isn’t very popular.
