For those of you who didn't catch Bellator last night, there was an alarming moment that served as a reminder of how dangerous MMA can be. Mike Kimbel made his debut and slammed opponent Geoffrey Then for the KO win (after a few more strikes to seal the deal). Kimbel admitted afterwards that he was scared for a moment that there could have been lasting damage from the slam.
If Then's head had been positioned differently or if his spine had impacted the canvas at a slightly different angle, who knows what might have happened...
