So it looks like the supposed "hack" and leak of the DNC's info has been tied to a Russian intelligence agency, or at least there's enough evidence to proceed with an indictment. Still no ties to the Trump campaign, but we know the Rooskies were behind some of the messy emails getting spread around like HPV.

Mueller indicts 12 Russian intel officers for hacking Democrats

My concern is that if the US establishes legal precedent for indicting intelligence officers for disinfo campaigns, what will the blowback to the CIA and DOD be? We practically invented this playbook.

Meh, I'll wait until the trial plays out and the facts are separated from the bullshit. But assuming they conclusively prove Russia was behind it, I think it's a big nothingburger anyhow and had no impact on the eventual outcome.

The real damaging stuff was just facts being exposed, anyhow. Just like the Trump/Billy Bush leaked tape, which I think was MUCH more damaging. Trump's "pussy grabbing" faux pas was less esoteric than the Clinton email revelations - you simply had a guy vulgarly describing grabbing women by their vaginas. Much more visceral, way more damaging. Trump had media giants like CNN, MSNBC, Al Jazeera, etc, attacking him 24/7, as well as the regular culture-shaping leftist media figures. And of course you had the outgoing president encouraging illegals to vote - LITERALLY non-citizens interfering in the election.

So liberals can hold onto that ridiculous notion that Russian hackers cost her the election, but it's just a cop out. Trump had to cover come WAY more and had a much more difficult path to the White House. Hillary had the majority of the media on her side, and exponentially more campaign spent. Do we HONESTLY believe a significant portion of the public switched from HRC to Donald Trump because of those emails? People were so divided, they were going to vote for their candidate no matter what. Trump supporters looked past the pussy grabbing and all the scandals, and Hillary supporters looked past her scandals, because to each side they were voting for the far lesser evil.

In the swing states, some of the margins were fairly close so "significant" is relative. It's not just about who changed their vote, but also who decided not to vote because of whatever ideas they had about the dems and Hillary.

But overall I agree with you for once. The fact that Trump got as far as he did was quite an achievement even absent Russian state sponsored tomfoolery.

I'm personally less interested in litigating the election than I am in what new definitions of electoral interference and state sovereignty will come out of this investigation. The US has toppled regime after regime using manipulation of elections. If we go down this road of condemning Russia, will we take our own medicine? It's an interesting question in 21st century democracy where manipulation can be indirect and easily diffused.

No practically about it. CIA did invent this in Russia to support Yeltsin. Pretty well documented.

Yep! "Adoptions" lol. (Maybe if you count Trump adopting Putin's wishes).
Oh, and 5 indictments (and counting) .... NO COLLUSION!
