I love Jiri, but he better bring his silly Bobby Hill ass out of the pitch dark tool shed! The irony of Jiris opponent pretending to be
Jamahall "King of the" Hill
is the "Universes" Way of trying to tell him he needs to gtfo of there, get with better sparring partners, and clean some shit up so that he can hopefully evolve his skillset..
If he's doesn't, I'm going to call bs on Jan being the only polish LHW in top 5, cuz this bs with his last few fights scream Dumb Polock/Polak preparation or lack there of... Plz Jiri, Get your fkn hands up, your chin down and for the love of God show up As the Oezdemi and Reyes slayer Jiri! Turn into circa 85' Freddy Kruger and turn that fkers Sweet dreams into a fkn nightmare! No more, "Short Bus Samurai", Jiri. He's gotta be much more level headed and a lot less Water Headed.. If gaethje can find a way to clean up his Defensive skills and brawl in spurts instead of bell to bell, then ANYBODY can make those same adjustments. His coaches are responsible for keeping him honest, and doing the proper things that help keep a fighter protected much better, and if they aren't on his ass about it, then they're just Enabling Yes men.
As a coach. myself in multiple combat sports, idgsf if Jon Jones was being coached by me, Best believe every time he sticks his fingers out, I'm checking him, If Bo nickal didn't set up a TD properly, I'm calling him out, if Krazy Horse Bennett doesn't tuck properly on his celebratory clumsy back flip, I'm deducting points for the shit landing!
There will never come an instance where I risk my fighters health, or stay quiet when it comes to being the Voice of reason that protects and thinks about the whole picture, that start at the simple fundamentals, like keeping your hands up properly etc.
If you can't see to it your athletes are instilled with the basics, you def don't belong in a position that can make our break a fighters trajectory/ legacy.
My state champ wrestlers to this day gotta run a mile and do 100 air squats for every minute they are late. They also aren't immune to having their egos checked, when needed. You have to treat all your guys , Fairly, not equally! meaning, that I put more into the guys that give me their best, and to the slackers, they get reciprocated what they put or don't put into training.
And in our team setting, when a guy no shows at training without legit reasoning, I let the no show guy sit and watch the rest of his team who didn't miss training, have to run timed sprints on top of 50 sets of 3 pull ups throughout practice..
That in turn finds a way to buildand identify who are our leaders that police the pack, in whatever which way they see fit, Even if i gotta look the other way sometimes.
A few Shark tank rounds with my top guys rotating on the slackers has a way of getting ppl on board or out the room.. You gotta set high standards in order to build a Sustainable Winning Culture, that never ever laxes on its work ethic or accountability. Every great team regardless the sport, all have those handful very vital qualities that have to be in order for the rest of the process to take care of itself!
