The California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) revoked the MMA license of Jones and fined him $205,000 at a hearing Tuesday at the DoubleTree Suites by Hilton. Jones, the former UFC light heavyweight champion, tested positive for the steroid Turinabol in an in-competition drug test in relation to his fight with Daniel Cormier at UFC 214 last July.

CSAC executive officer Andy Foster recommended that CSAC does not reinstate Jones until the conclusion of his USADA suspension, which has not yet been set. Jones’ CSAC license expires this coming August.

It is not good news for Jones that the California commission viewed with skepticism the seemingly popular opinion that his testing pattern strongly suggests he ingested the turinabol unintentionally. The other issues raised in this hearing will likely be an issue for USADA as well.

I would be inclined to believe that...if Jones was able to provide a shred of evidence to support his claim.

They came up with the 250k as being a fine of 40% of his purse.

Jones got a piece of the PPV though... so 205k is no where near 40% of what he made in the DC fight. We know of 2 very different PPV pay scales. The Couture court case showed how he was getting paid way back in the day... & Alvarez' pay scale was revealed as well when he first entered the UFC.
PPV buyz for the DC fight were 860k - So
using the Alvarez scale Jones made $1,250,000 in PPV points
using the Couture scale it would be around double that.

So 205k isn't a drop in the bucket compared to what Jones got paid... but on the real.... the money should go to DC.

I quite like the DoubleTree. The one in park city has nice open fireplace in the lobby.

I just remembered I'm a Hilton member, I should try and book a night away somewhere

Damn CSAC simply wasn't having it. They shoulda been a cake walk compared to
USADA. This ain't looking good. My bet is USADA gives him 3 years. Unless Jones can
provide factual evidence of tainted supplements or cocaine he's sitting out for a
good minute

if he stays out for three years then people will lose their shit when he comes back. it will be the biggest fight in a span of five years (going back to when Conor used to fight) and everybody will say he was a badass and that they used to love him.

Quite possible for sure. Its also possible that we never see him in the octagon again
Whatever suspension time USADA gives him also means he has to be a choir boy for
the entire time. No issues with police, traffic tickets etc... Hell he can't
even do shit if some clown grabs his wifes ass at the movie theater.

We are talking about Jon Jones here... there is no guarantee he stays clean
long enough to actually even reapply for his license after his USADA suspension is up

There are odds up at bookkeepers on this stuff, lol. Will Jon be arrested in the next year? How long will his suspension be? Will Jon test positive again? Tons of odds on this trainwreck.

I'm watching now....total fucking train wreck! Jon said waaaaaay too many words. Holy fucking shit some stupid shit flew out of his mouth. He was woefully unprepared by his lawyers/management.

The CSAC did a really good job detailing and describing just exactly how big of a dumb ass he is.

I admit I don't like him and am pretty hard on him but at the same time
I genuinely don't wanna see him turn out like Tyson and end up with almost
nothing.

He has at least earned the right to have a nice life financially. Be a shame if he lost that too

The big difference here is Tysons spent his money. Jon is fucking up and preventing himself from making money.

USADA just follow procedure. I dont know what that is but it will almost certainly be a long suspension based around second offence. 3 years or more. No reduction for good behaviour in their house.

Oh he will fight again. Combat sports are built on people past their prime having "comeback " fights.
