Jon Jones may or may not be fighting soon. One thing fans can be sure of is that his confidence is as high as ever.

The UFC heavyweight champion has been leaving a trail of bread crumbs on social media as he travels the world, most recently writing that whatever his plans may be concerning his career, the UFC should already know what to expect. Jones, 37, has not fought since successfully defending his title against Stipe Miocic this past November and has competed just twice since 2020.

The biggest question the future UFC Hall of Famer faces now is whether he will ever fight Tom Aspinall, the UFC’s interim heavyweight champion. Aspinall, 32, has repeatedly called for a unification bout with Jones, with Jones rarely reciprocating that interest.

In his latest social media snipe, “Bones” took to Instagram Stories to share a clip of a dog calmly wrestling another, much louder dog to the ground. He added the caption, “What I feel like returning to the UFC after some much-needed downtime.”

jon needs to shit or get off the pot . fight or retire . holding on to the belt this long and not defending is bullshit. he is now the 2nd longest reigning HW champ with 1 single defense . he won that belt march 2023 from gane and has only fought stipe since. only cain has held the HW belt longer and he defended 4x. tom aspinall has been interim champ since nov 2023 and has defended 1x already . they are running 2 separate HW titles for no reason right now. neither man is injured .there is no reason for the belt to not be unified . jon made his name coming up from fighting older guys at the end of their career like rampage and shogun now its his turn to give aspinall a shot . jon seems to want to run around thailand being gay right now instead though

i dont think he is worried about that . i think he is trying to get a 30 mil pay check out of uncle fester . cant blame the guy but either dana needs to pay up or strip the title . there cant be 2 titles being defended or else they mean nothing

He's playing their game.
If they strip the title he's probably a free agent.
Usually they let fighters wait until they want to return for a pay day. He's been holding out for that pay day unlike most fighters.

To me it feels like he told UFC he isn't fighting Tom and the UFC is just running it as a possibility to help them bargain a broadcasting deal.
It used to be a year, selectively enforced.
Champs should fight each year, preferably every 6 or 8 months minimum.
Guys used to fight every 2-4 months with good success.

Yeh nah. ( typical Aussie saying).
That was when they would strip the belt and create an interim title. If the champ didn't fight they would loose the belt and therefore forfeit their PPV points.
After the BJ Penn x Matt Hughes fight they introduced a clause that " if you hold the belt your contract extends , as long as you hold the belt".
I think it's called the "champion clause "or something.
Since the lawsuit they knew 100% they couldn't win on that and still claim they weren't a monopoly. So they introduced a sunset clause ( which was absolutely fair).
I'm 99% sure Francis nganu was the first person to ( try to ) take advantage of this.
He was almost there. Then the contract was signed. Then he faught Cyril gyain. And lost.???? Then he was released anyway.
Fuck my memory is fucked. I don't follow MMA the way I used to.

Francis grappled Gane to a Decisión, they only fought once
Went into the fight with a blown knee
Jones saw Gane can't grapple and chose that as the guy to move to HW against, days after Francis left the UFC

Anybody with 2 fights in 1900+ days(Jones) needs to not be considered a Champ

Jon doesn't want the fight
Clear as day

UFC DANA JONES all look ridiculous here, nobody buys this shit even if they are a Jones fan.

Lets get the HW belt moving again, no reason to celebrate a stagnate HW division.
MMA was built on HWs, and there are a handful of them. Lets let the better man every 4 months be crowned HW champ.

How the hell are you the best HW if you haven't fought in nearly a year?

You are merely, an inactive LHW/HW, who won't sign to fight anybody.

2 fights in 1900 days

You're tripping my man.
Jon isn't scared to fight anyone. He's playing the ufc's game because that's what it takes to get the money he wants unfortunately.
You should be blaming them if anyone.
Aspinal is a fantastic fighter but Jon will smoke him when the time rolls around.
What will you say then ?

He must've been on the picogram diet?
Which would actually be a fair criticism.
He's a cheater and probably the dirtying fighter in mma that I can think of.
That aside. He's the goat. And I don't say that lightly.

Jones is easily the greatest heavyweight in ufc history, let alone the greatest MMA fighter of all time. He fights when he wants.

If the UFC don't wanna pay him top dollar to fight some chap who's best win is blaydes then they should find him a real contender.

Naive point of view. Jones is not scared of fighting, but he is terrified of losing. Legacy is all he has. He doesn't want any part of these young lions, hence the hand-picked opponents.

Are you still going to have that opinion when he smokes aspinal?
Or will it change to something more like " he was never that good to begin with ".

Father time is undefeated. Jones is just a fat heavyweight pushing 40 now
