I almost thought kvr was trolling for a second.

That was a really good movie

For anyone like myself that wants to watch a good movie and since recent one's are basically non existent. So they go back through the catalogue to see if they missed any. This is one worth a watch.

On this same topic. " Almost famous " was another good movie if anyone missed it.

* caveat . I liked these movies 20+ years ago . I'm fairly sure they are still good but it has been a long time since I've seen them.
Not at all, I mean I thought of Rob while watching it but never heard that was the reson for the split, Rob came out after he left the band several years later.

Almost famous still holds up. Love this scene.

I remember that they made a big deal of how much Crudup resembled Dickey Betts when this came out.
Funny, because I actually knew Dickey on a “Hey, how’s it going?” basis, as we traded at the same guitar store in Tallahassee back when Butch Trucks had his recording studio out west of town and he would come here to record. He gave the store and its proprietor a credit in the liner notes for his “Pattern Disruptive” album. Took a buddy from work to one of his concerts in town who didn’t believe we knew each other until I went up and got in a conversation with him.
Never know who life will throw in your path.

That's wild man.
I actually got lucky enough to see the alman brothers band in 2007 in new Orleans with derrick trucks. ( I wasn't hugely into the alman bros but I recognised them , derrick and the domino's ect and the history there )
They played a festival there a month or so after Mardi grass. ( which I was not there for ).
I recall basically 2 things from that.
1) they were basically to good . I mean that. They were improvising and they did it in a way , if you could make an annology it would be like people hanging out shooting the shit and using the queens English. They were so respectful of each other and they all knew each other's place.
I think part of the excitement of having a band improving is that it all might fall apart at any second yet they pull it together and make something beautiful.
They were great though. And I'm sure if you're that kind of band that tours that much they needed to find some structure somewhere ti avoid fucking up 10 gigs to have 1 incredible one.
2) they were on about 3:00 pm . In the broad daylight.
I'd have assumed they would have been at the top of the bill but they must've known better. That a lot of working people won't s stick around forever, so if your getting the eyeballs and getting the money you might as well play when people are there to watch.
The band that came on after was Cowboyhead. I rember because when I went on my little pilgrimage to America, I went to the Roxy in LA . I had many places like the whisky ect to pick from and I chose there. I was not impressed.
I felt like these fuckers tracked me down to make my life more miserable. The funny thing is the Canadian dude I made friends with who was standing beside me said he'd already seen them before as well and thought they were shit.
That's a band that had a good manager and shit songs to back it up.
A lot of us walked out when they started playing. To much touring, shit content will do that.
The allman brothers were good though.
Sorry for the rant. I got carried away.
Just tripped me out a bit that you knew dicky betts. ( even if in passing) That cunts a legend. ( FYI that is a term of endearment for us Aussies)

He was a somewhat irascible guy, could be kind of an ass when something got him irritated. My brother and our former brother-in-law also knew him same way I did and they came upon him by the road with his old pickup broken down. They stopped and offered to help and he basically cussed them out. You never knew what you’d get with him, but it was cool to travel at the edges of his orbit anyway.

That's funny.
He kind of looks like that kind of person.
