As most of you may know, I'm a tax practioner by profession, and have only gotten seasonal work since last year. I thought I'd expand my horizons and look for seasonal work outside my hometown. I had been talking to one place in a town about 4 hours drive away for the last month and I got a job offer about half hour ago. It's a three month contract from star of July til the end of September.

Money wise its better than I expected, and kind of hard to say no to on that alone. With standard hours it will be $1200 per week plus an accommodation allowance of up to $200 a week. I was asked how much I was after pay wise last week to which I said between $1100-$1200 a week - so they offered me the highest end of that amount + a bit of cherry on top...That says a lot imo

However, I'm almost sure the hours will be more during at least the first half of my contract as the demand will be there. So it will be more like $1500 a week + $200 allowance.

I already have a work-from-home tax gig lined up for the tax season, but they pay by piece of work done, not salary - so I can still do that on the side (which I plan on doing - I wanna rake in the motherfuckin $$$$$$$$$$).

However, if I take the job I will be away from the gf again, which will take a toll, but we both know the gig is for three months and the employer has already said there's no chance of extension (so Ill be back doing Uber come October). Since its 4 hours drive, there is the chance I can make the drive down every 2nd weekend of so when the initial demand dies down.

I'm being sent the formal contract now, and I plan on going through it with a fine comb before making a formal decision. But just based on the money - and the fact its only three months - I'm inclined to take it and the make the move out bush.

Did you mean to post this in your diary? No one gives a fuck.

J/K, congrats
TMMAC is my diary bro! hahaha

Cheers man..Appreciate the love.

Plus, I was more going with the approach kind along the lines of "what do you guys think i should do?", "any advice for a brother?" when I started this thread, but as I wrote it I kinda realised that - if all the other terms of the contract are okay, and if I can find a decent place to live when Im there - that I should take the job, save like a cunt for those three months and come home loaded when its all done.

Cheers mate. Mental health will be the main challenge. Physical will be a thousands times better since I’ll be living on spaghetti, red beans, spinach, kale and mince...and not the fucking amazing food my gf cooks.

Did that when I lived in Melbourne back in 2016 and walked 30 mins to work everyday. Lost 15kgs/33pounds in like 4 months hahaha

Congrats dude. Get that cheddar yo!

Working away from a gf is no big deal, last time I was away for 3 months I came back and she was pregnant off someone else! So that worked out pretty good, I mean I got to throw her out and pull some new hoes down at the bar with deer.

Good times

Bump. Decided to withdraw myself from the role.

Person from the company I had been talking to said on the day I made this thread that she would send a contract ``ASAP``. Waited a week and didn`t get shit nor hear shit from them, so I sent them an email asking how the process with sending the contract is all going. I received an apology and a promise that I would get a contract ``first thing`` this morning. At the end of the working day (so, more `last thing`) I got an email from this lass asking me to provide fucking work references!!

I could`ve killed a motherfucker fair dinkum hey. Took a few deep breathes and sent a response giving her my references but (respectfuly but firmly) saying that I no longer wanted to be considered as I thought the process had become far too disorganised and, given that the job requires relocation and a late-June start, that they should`ve got their shit together by now.

I dont even feel that bummed. I can make nearly as much money with my work-from-home tax gig and if I can get my shit together with this online english teaching role I`m trying to get, I should be able to easily clear a grand a week and then some.

Why did you provide references and then decline? Did you have a PoC with your would be boss? I would have called and just asked wats going on.

Just to show them that I had nothing to hide. Thought they might've thought that I bullshitted on my cv and was using the 'withdraw me' rant as an excuse, which was not the case.

If it was a full time permanent job maybe I would've called and talked. But it's not and the whole recruitment process has already gone on nearly two months. Pretty incompetent if you ask me.

Another bump (hopefully the last for this thread). Last week I got a call from a recruitment agent who had posted a job looking for tax consultants for one of their clients. Had a chat and last Wednesday went in for an interview with said client.

Got a call an hour ago to say they've offered me a job, which I instantly accepted! Now it's only guaranteed for five months, but it's two months more than the other mob would have been and the pay's only works out to be about $40 a week less. However, it's in my city so I dont have to put my life on hold, which is awesomeballs.

Also, it's about a half hour bike ride from my house, so there's no excuse for me to buy a shitty old $50 bike from Gumtree this weekend and ride to work and get my hairy fat old wog-bogan arse into fucking shape. I wanna look dapper in a suit, not look like a fat ol fuck who just rolled out of KF-fucking-C
