Khabib Nurmagomedov has hinted that he is already in talks with the UFC about his next fight

Khabib Nurmagomedov has been the UFC lightweight champion for barely three weeks, but already a number of challengers are lining up to face him.

Speaking at a Q&A event at a Russian University yesterday, Nurmagomedov suggested that talks between his management and the UFC had already begun regarding his next fight and that he was willing to face Conor McGregor should the Irishman want to return in 2018.

“We’re talking, but if it takes too long, I don’t want to do that.,” Nurmagomedov said via a translator regarding a fight with McGregor.

“If he wants to fight this year, then we can fight.

“Otherwise, I don’t know.

“We won’t wait long. I want to fight Conor and if he can fight, I will fight him.”

Outside of McGregor, the likes of Tony Ferguson, Dustin Poirier and the winner of this weekends clash between Kevin Lee and Edson Barboza will all be in the mix at the top of the division. One man Nurmagomedov seemingly has no interest in fighting though is Eddie Alvarez.

Don't understand how Barboza is in the mix. Khabib only recently just gave him a non-competitive, one sided beat down that no one (probably Barboza included) wants to see again any time soon.
And Kevin Lee definitely doesn't deserve a shot.

And why he no want Eddie?

I hope the UFC pony up some decent money for him for this considering the amount they'll make out of PPVs. I know Conor's the biggest draw they've ever had but he deserves a decent deal for this.

The fact Eddie is on a 1-fight win streak and that was a win over a guy Poirier just beat too and Poirier is now on a 3-fight win streak, and Eddie should've been DQed against Poirier after nearly getting KOd fairly, and those two fights came after Eddie was brutally KOd by Conor? And Alvarez is just trying to wait out a shot rather than fight?

Khabib is right to not value Alvarez at this point.

He's got the belt now though so he's doing and saying what he's suposed to do
