Colby Covington’s coach Mike Brown: Darren Till getting title shot is ‘devaluing’ UFC belts

“I’m pretty bummed about it,” Brown said. “I just feel like its devaluing the belts. You can’t just make every fight a title fight if it doesn’t go your way. It just doesn’t seem right, it doesn’t seem like it’s good for long-term value for the titles. That’s a big problem. That’s the bottom line, I think they’re devaluing the belts. Everybody sees it.”

agree. Having the champ fight without defending the championship really raises the value of the championship.

They should make an "annoying" belt too, and just award it to the twats of each division - no fight even necessary. Then if a weight class has more than one "annoying" belt holder, they could fight to unify.

No, they stick around, but don't get any fights until another "annoying" belt is awarded within their weight class. That way they are under contract for a lifetime with only a 3 fight deal.

Interim titles devalue the titles.

There should never be more than one belt. Either strip the champ and give the belt to someone else, or don't.
