Cody talked about his back injury before he announced his stem cell treatment didn't work. He said Danny's going with him to Germany, so it's legit because Danny is legit imo. And my guess is the UFC doctors knew very well what was going on, so Cody won't be penalized for missing that press conference.
Even if Cody is well enough to fight, those kinds of stories are annoying. Give him the extra time to really recover, and let them fight at their best in August or September. Not a big deal, imo. Should be an amazing fight, maybe even legendary. Don't ruin what it could be by pushing it too early.
Also, if TJ was pulled because Cody couldn't make it, it's more likely they just didn't want to give TJ the opportunity to say a bunch of nasty stuff without their star there to talk back, whether the fight is canceled or not.
