Rory MacDonald isn’t shying away from some recent comments he made about prior opponent Robbie Lawler possibly being on performance enhancing drugs when they fought for the UFC welterweight title in 2015. MacDonald, who has moved on to Bellator in the meantime, made headlines early in the month when the normally soft-spoken fighter called Lawler out. Given a chance to clarify his comments, he’s not backing off of them at all.

Instead, he expanded on where his belief comes from, and again attempted to source some drug tests he felt were indications of PED use (via MMA Fighting):

“He never slowed down,” MacDonald said. “I would hurt him and his output was high, high, high and he never really lost power and endurance. He just kept the pace and kept the power no matter how hurt or tired he was. He always was recovered very fast. It made me very suspicious.

“Obviously, I think Robbie is a tank of a person. He’s got that fire and that will and the rage and that anger in him that burns and pushes him through those hard moments. He’s an absolute warrior. I’m not disagreeing with that. But I do believe he was taking some sh-t.”

Lawlers reign and climb up to it was never really questioned but it certainly should have been.

He was always fun to watch as all big punchers are. He had a great start to his career as a young guy joining the UFC, then eventually leaving and making his way to EliteXC and Strikeforce. There, he started to descend dramatically in performance. Sure, he was losing fights to eventual champions and contenders but he was losing over and over.

Surprisingly he joins the UFC for a second stint and goes on a tear eventually winning the WW title.

He's always had a strong fighting spirit but he somehow went from mediocre to almost unstoppable. He could out crazy anyone and his cardio was off the charts. He would steal fights in the last minute of the last round.

His shocking comeback against Melvin Manhoef years prior became the norm.

Rory absolutely should question if he was fighting a clean athlete. Vitor Belfort has a similar resurgence like Lawler and we all know the truth there.

Rory, in my opinion, is the best WW since GSP because Lawler and his other rival, Hendricks, both had inhuman performances then dramatic falls and disappearances.

Just my thoughts.

Oh Lawler was definitely juicing but would anyone be surprised if Rory was too?

It might not be possible to fight the way they did without some juice.

Hooray for juice is the lesson i guess.

Was rooting for Robbie in both fights, but I can’t get upset at this.

Here we have a fighter whose career was going south in a hurry. Comes back to the ufc(and moves to att??) and goes on a crazy run. Not saying it’s impossible, but that level of success so late in a brawler’s career is nearly unheard of...

As the old saying goes....

Nic nac patty wack. Give a dog a bone.

I love lawler but i think Rory is right. Lawler joins ATT improves drastically and becomes champion. Also ATT has had a few fighters busted for PEDS. Lombard, Tibau, Romero. Recent ones JDS and Amanda Ribas.

It was probably over a year ago when I pointed out that the whole ATT camp stinks to high heavens, but no one wanted to hear it. MMA and its fans refuse to learn from the mistakes of others.

Saw that fight in person. Lawler nearly got his leg kicked off and couldn't walk on his own after the fight.

Hella exciting to witness though.

I took a gym tour of ATT a few years ago when I was thinking about joining in order to train bjj.

They had many membership packages (all expensive), including one that was explained as the "physical enhancement" package.

I decided not to join...

It would have been great if you joined and hector Lombard visited and they put you in to spar with him........

I don't know if it's true or not, but there was a rumor for a while that their location was next to a "wellness clinic" any truth to that?

I don't know of anything that was right next to it. Maybe in their old location.

I googled it, though, and there's one right down the street from their old location and from their new location:

So it's a 4-min drive or an 11-min walk from their new location, and right down the street from their old location (which I've marked with a red X on the map above).

Guess we have our answer.
