Matt Hamill regains hearing

I can't imagine the joy he experienced being able to hear his wife & kids voices for the first time. Although after about a year of listening to his wife, he'll wish he was deaf again.

Did he regain hearing, or can he finally hear now? I assumed he was born deaf.
