Matt Hughes seems to be doing much better — well enough to leave the hospital, at least for a meal.

Tony Zucca, a close friend of Hughes, posted news about what he says is “miracle” progress for the UFC legend Sunday. He even included a picture of himself and Hughes, writing that he was able to take Hughes, who is in a wheelchair, out for sushi.

“Less than two months ago I didn't know if my best friend was going to make it, and tonight we made a jail break for sushi (in disguise. Ha),” Zucca wrote. “Talk about a rollercoaster of emotions! His progress is nothing short of a miracle.”

Wasn't the coma medically induced?

Junior seau did a few similar mauevers prior to shooting himself, including driving his truck off a bluff. When he survived he claimed he fell asleep at the wheel. With my limited knowledge of the Hughes incident, it seems earily similar.

He was trying to kill his wife and willing to get hit by a train to do it.

And he'd still beat the hell out of the Irish guy now that they are in the same weight class.

I figured it was a suicide attempt but don't know about faking a coma... that can get pretty expensive! And it would be pretty hard to not fart or crack a smile for that long.

Very heart warming news about Matt, earlier on his condition sounded so grim, so I am glad he's had a turn around. :cheers:

I was worried when there was no updates being released by the family. Glad he pulled thru this one.

Really good to hear. I was shocked when I found out this happened, and I hadn't heard much about it since.
