There was a time in the not-so-distant past when Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) bantamweight contender Michael McDonald, 26, was ranked No. 3 in the world at 135 pounds.
Then came a string of debilitating injuries, as well as high-profile losses to Urijah Faber and John Lineker, which sent “Mayday” tumbling down the division ladder. Not that he got any support from UFC along with way.
"The UFC was dishonest in the way they tried to do business with me and it's resulted in a complete waste of my time," McDonald told ESPN. "I want to feel like my employer isn't out trying to cut my head off. I'm looking to enter a mutually respectful business contract with another fight organization."
