There is arguably no hotter feud in the whole of the MMA world right now than between Bellator fighters Michael “Venom” Page and Paul “Semtex” Daley. However, it looks like one of the most anticipated fights among MMA fans may never happen.

The rivalry between the two British fighters had been building for months, leading to a joint press conference back in February. Despite the vicious verbal sparring between the two at that event, it was announced by Bellator CEO Scott Coker that the two would not be fighting each other at Bellator 179 as many expected, which was held last month in London, due to Daley refusing to face Page. Instead, Daley chose to fight Rory MacDonald in the Canadian’s Bellator debut, leaving MVP to take on Derek Anderson.

Breaking point

Page was ultimately held out of the fight with Anderson due to a knee injury, while Daley lost in embarrassing fashion to MacDonald, being choked out in the second round. Following the loss, Daley called out MVP, who was in the crowd. Upon leaving the cage, Daley then attempted to assault Page, resulting in a brawl that had to be pulled apart by security.

In the aftermath of the fight, Scott Coker announced that putting on the long-awaited Page/Daley bout is “ the fight people want to see”. Coker said that he’d be looking at putting on another Bellator event in London before the end of this year, to be headlined by the clash of these two arch-nemeses.
Daley shies away again

Unfortunately, despite this being the fight that MMA fans, Bellator, and Page himself want to see happen, it appears it may never come to pass. We can exclusively reveal that Page has been contacted by Bellator with the news that, despite publicly calling out Page time after time, Daley is once again refusing to face MVP in the cage.

Maybe MVP should beat someone of note before getting a shot at someone with Daley's notierity.

You don't attack someone in the crowd and then not fight him in the cage, especially when you can potentially get a bump in salary

That's not really how the game works anymore. He's earned the oppurtunity to fight him by making it a fight people want to see. It's exactly how Conor leap frogged the line to fight Aldo after beating Dennis Siver.

I don't recognize the Irish chicken in any way.

Daley has lost 2 of his last 3 fights, and to be perfectly honest, none of the previous 14 fighters he fought prior to Rory is a household name. None of them. His noteriety isn't exactly of the Conor McGregor level, he is going to be fighting guys who will bring far less interest from fight fans than MVP would bring now that Rory has completely outclassed him. Maybe Belator ought to allow MVP to leap frog right on up to Rory then, that could generate some buzz. Sure, why not, fuck Paul Daley!

this was the first thing i thought, oh, he'll fight him in a crowd at an arena for no money but not in the cage?

Seems we're only getting one side of the story.

The article in the OP reads like it was written by MVP's 13-year-old younger brother.

Wut?

I have no dog in this fight. I don't even watch Bellator outside of Rory MacDonald's fights. If MVP did fight Semtex, I'd probably want MVP to win because he's the younger fighter and has a brighter future.

But you don't find it strange that we haven't heard anything from Semtex?

There could be a variety of reasons he hasn't accepted the fight, one of them being money.

It just seems strange that everyone is jumping on MVP's side without first waiting to hear what Daley has to say about the situation .

MVP would be wise to push for a fight with Daley and stay away from Rory as long as possible.
MVP is a young fighter whose career fight total is about half that of Rory MacDonald.

Also, MVP is a star in the making in a promotional sense, so they need to build him up slowly and hope he's as good in the cage as he is on the mic.

Pitting him against Rory now would be terrible match-making.

Just want to remind/point at that MVP is 2 years older than Rory Mac. I know what you're saying though and agree but both these guys could last just as long in Bellator. Look at some of the dinosaurs they've dug up. Plus the BMMA schedule is rather slow, no way Rory fights 3 times a year, nobody there could keep as busy as a guy like Cerrone.
