Yep, it's just a stand-alone novel, so far. Book was great, hoping the movie doesn't fuck it up.

The book was entertaining but a bit formulaic. It's not as good as Martian.

Gosling will nail it. It's going to come down to how they portray his costar. If they fuck that up the movie cannot be good no matter what.

I’m curious how it will be structured: as a linear narrative or with the backstory dribbled out through the story. The trailer already reveals what I thought was a good surprise in the novel.

I should probably watch the trailer. Generally I avoid them completely.

I'm guessing it'll have flashbacks but I agree that the trailer should not have revealed the big surprise
