Rashad Evans
Esther Lin, MMA Fighting

Rashad Evans is returning to the weight class where he was once a champion.

The former UFC light heavyweight champion will be back at 205 pounds when he takes on Anthony Smith at UFC 225 on June 9 at the United Center in Chicago, sources confirmed with MMA Fighting on Monday.

The bout was first reported by ESPN.

At 38, Evans (19-7-1) has been in a slump over the last few years, having lost four straight and six of his past eight. His last win came against Chael Sonnen at UFC 167 on Nov. 16, 2013. A move down to middleweight proved fruitless for Evans, who dropped back-to-back split decisions to Sam Alvey and Dan Kelly in his most recent outings.

I'd like to see Rashad with one more hl reel knockout.
Also, like him much better at this weightclass.

I think it's not about falling off . It's about others advancing past him. He's been in this game a long time, keeping yourself at the top is very tough.

Imo he's never been the very very best, he's very good but not Jon Jones good

I dunno... He went 2-5 after the Jones loss. Lil Not, Sam Alvey and Daniel Kelly aren't really on some surge in thier fighting career. Hashad looked untouchable until Lyoto blasted him. He still went on to beat Ortiz, Silva, Quinton and Davis before the Jones fight. After that it was a totally different fighter .

I must be honest, he has pissed me off with his show boating in the ring in round 1 minute 2. So I am biased. I have never actively disliked him, but I have never rooted for him.
