Why was the iron giant in there? Was he in the book? I think (though I'm not sure) I'd remember that.Ernest Cline's classic novel has been adapted and the trailer was released today at Comic Con.

From what I've heard he wasn't in the book. I can't say for sure having never read it.Why was the iron giant in there? Was he in the book? I think (though I'm not sure) I'd remember that.
It rarely does.Great book, I hope it translates well to film.
I wonder how they are going to put some of the characters in there, can't really say, do not want to spoil. Why was the iron giant in there? Was he in the book? I think (though I'm not sure) I'd remember that.
It's hard to follow up a good book, with the vision of someone else, and the limitations of 90+ minutes.Should be interesting, the book was better than expected, though the trailer doesn't correlate too well with how i visioned it. I'll give it a watch anyway.
totally agree, this film will probably do great at box office but will be divided with book fans, just the risk you take. It's hard to follow up a good book, with the vision of someone else, and the limitations of 90+ minutes.
i dont recall him in the book. if he was in it, it was a minor reference (i looked this up an hour ago, and i saw someone say on a forum that he was in it. i cant recall the spot tho)Why was the iron giant in there? Was he in the book? I think (though I'm not sure) I'd remember that.

my guess is that he takes the role of leapardon. the question is... will he be piloted? or more likely, autonomous. also, i feel like king kong is gonna be the villain instead of kiryu. that'll be pretty bad ass too
I will not see it. The fact that the Iron Giant is in it alone, tells me they're taking liberties with this story. The Iron Giant was a '99 movie, while in the book, all cultural references are from the 80's. It's Disneyfying these books. I think they want to reach out to millenials, younger people that did not live through the 80's, by making some of these characters from late 90's. I think there will be more characters replaced to suit the audience that comes and watch this movie, so they can relate. An audience I am not a part of. It will ruin the book for me.You've seen it and it wasn't good?
they've already got a ton of stuff after the 80's in there (a bunch of mortal kombat characters for example) but as long as they stay true to the heart of the book I'm ok with some changes. I was going to re read it before hand but I think I'll hold off till after.I will not see it. The fact that the Iron Giant is in it alone, tells me they're taking liberties with this story. I think they'd have to have the rights as well to reference some of these 80's characters. It's an unrealistic goal anyways. And again, good books rarely translate into good movies, and with these core changes; 80's culture, it will change the story enough for me that it will lose its charm. If you haven't read the book, I say go watch it. But it will be a different story. They'd need more than just 2 hours to tell it. The book is quite a gem, especially if you grew up in the 80's, but I don't think that part will translate.they've already got a ton of stuff after the 80's in there (a bunch of mortal kombat characters for example) but as long as they stay true to the heart of the book I'm ok with some changes. I enjoyed it saw it in iMax 3d I was very amused. As a big Shining fan I loved the Shining tie in hahahaFilm was alright but it kinda felt like the last handful of other "action" movies I've seen and I just never really got into it.
SPOILERS
Felt the main characters best friend was great until he became an unfunny black female comedian. I'm only mildly racist and pretty sexist but to me it truly felt like they were trying to trick us into liking a cool character that was actually a minority or female (both in this case) and it was pretty much the same deal as with Finn and Rose in "The Last Jedi". There are so many loved minority and/or female characters in TV and movies that I really don't get why they insist on doing this. Let us like who we want to like for the reasons we like them, stop trying to force us to become better people, I watch to escape reality not have it thrown in my face at every turn.
The scene where the lead female shows her birthmark as the explanation for why she doesn't want anyone to see her was just unbelievable. Plenty of people do just fine with far worse markings or other disabilities and hers was so negligible (not to a woman ofc) that I was actually disappointed. If anything, the black woman got the worst deal of the 3 being dumpy and sounding like she's smoked 40 cigs a day since she was 3
I'm sorry about forgetting all the names, my memory is so bad due to years of weed abuse
I'm surprised they included that, I bet it was slightly scary for the uninitiated. I prefer the 6 episode series to the Jack Nicholson movie personally, and "she" is scary in that version too.I enjoyed it saw it in iMax 3d I was very amused. As a big Shining fan I loved the Shining tie in hahaha
