Ive been to a number of festivals all around that city of all different types of backgrounds. Its a diverse area. I can say that 20 years ago it was safe to walk around that area even at night, with the further you go away from the lakes the worse it gets. Its what made that area awesome, was how diverse it was and how much new and interesting stuff you could experience. If history repeats itself which we know that it can and you take a step back the irony of it all is that the government adopts a community often using religious organizations as the conduit, but then fails them by just giving them free shit and abandoning them, never completing that process of showing them how things work so they can be productive and respected members of society. Some cultures handle this better than others. Its hard to fault people (barring criminals and shit like that, of course) who are pawns of evil and corrupt systems.
