I feel when Werdum was in his prime was around the Cain Velasquez fight. Werdum spent majority first half of his career focusing just on jiu jitsu, literally becoming a master in that one art. Then, he teams up with Rafael Cordeiro and becomes close to an elite striker(knockout of Mark Hunt when Hunt was close to fighting for title shot).
The reason I mention Werdum in a thread like this is because I feel Ortega is coming into his own in the same way. Started jiu jitsu at a young age and is extremely great at it, and now he has gotten so good at striking he doesn't rely on just his jiu jitsu. He was lighting Edgar up on the feet before he finished him there. Unlike Werdum though, Ortega is still fairly young and entering his athletic prime. Ortega, if he gets past Holloway, might go on a very long run at 145. I wouldn't be surrpised to see him hold the strap for 3 years, move up and have success at 155. The only problem though, is Max is also entering his prime and is elite level striker. Not sure about Max's ground game though.
