Surprised not seeing more of this, with training, glove size and wars in the cage they are taking significant more damage than any other sport.

Was gonna say this but at least in boxing you have a count, in MMA it gets stopped because someone either isn't defending themselves well enough or they are el sparco
you spar more in boxing as well. MMA you have wrestling and bjj days. Also in MMA there’s fights where there can be minimal damage because of superior ground game.

Counts make things worse. How many times have you seen in boxing where the fighter gets on his feet and allowed to continue only to be knocked down again in the next exchange? Repeated blows to the head are more likely to cause brain damage. In MMA, once the ref steps in, it is over. The fighter can argue he's fine all he wants. It doesn't matter.

I understand completely. That's what I'm saying. I probably said it bad.

What I'm getting at is a fighter can take a count as a breather sometimes to regroup, look at froch, he got knocked down early in 2 fights and won. Probably took a hundred more punches at least in each fight.

I like the count but I don't like the country also. Look at nganno Vs AJ or AJ Vs dubois.

PAC Vs Marquez was great. Especially when he ironed the druggy out flat. It was insane

There were a couple things that I didn’t like with the favoritism but it was a couple particularly brutal fights in particular that ruined my enjoyment of the sport.

When my mother passed away, I did all sorts of research on brain damage. One of the things that kept getting brought up is fencing posture and how bad things are when that happens.

If you go back and watch Gaethje vs Ferguson, pay very particular attention to the fourth round. About halfway through it, Gaethje hit Ferguson just above the eyebrow. For a split second, Ferguson has a seizure that fits the definition of fencing. I lost a whole lot of regard for Justin Gaethje and Trevor Whitman over Whitman telling Gaethje to pull back on his punches instead of trying to win the fight (and Gaethje for not ending the fight when he could).

The problem with MMA is regulation.

You can show up at an event as a spectator and end up fighting on the card.

There needs to be better regulation around getting licenses etc.

Also, it's easier to claim to be an MMA fighter than it is to be a boxer.

People watching know when someone trains or not and most guys who want to be fighters are actually too lazy to train.

In that respect, it's harder to get away with being a dumbass in boxing then MMA.

Yeah he slugged it out with Tank Abbott at UFC 11 and they had a rematch years later in somebody's back yard.
Backyard story is pretty crazy
Some guy paid them out but lost tons of money trying to pay them out because the PPV failed/got blocked or some shit

Yeah, he was going to charge one diollar for the ppv or so I heard. It was a long time ago now. Really bad fight though, the rematch.
