About $70,000 worth of bull semen and embryos were stolen from a dairy farm near Le Roy, Minnesota. Le Roy is about 40 miles south of Rochester.

The owner of the farm, Daniel Weness, said he extracted the bull semen and embryos from his cows. He said the canister holding the bull semen and embryo vials, itself, is worth around $500.

"There is a market for this, a lot of people bid on it or purchase it instead of transporting their animals to and from site. They can purchase this vial of bull semen and inseminate their cow and I guess it's just a more reliable way to do it," said Chief Deputy Mark May of the Mower County Sheriff's Office.

Chief May also says bull semen is a commodity that can be purchased on Craigs List, and that people are willing to spend a lot of money on it. Weness said he currently has about 80 animals on his farm.
