Last week, Chuck Liddell announced he was coming out of an eight-year retirement to pursue a third fight with his long-time rival, Tito Ortiz, under the banner of Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions. It’s a fight that helps everyone involved out: De La Hoya wants to get into MMA promotion, Liddell wants to get back in the cage, and Ortiz wants a shot at redemption against the man who stopped him twice inside the octagon.

Redemption might not be the right word though, according to Ortiz. Over the weekend, Ortiz told TMZ Sports that part of the reason he wanted another crack at Liddell was that he believed he didn’t get “a fair shake” during either of their encounters inside the UFC.

He must believe it wasn't fair for Chuck to land so many uncontested shots to his chin like that

He is one of the greatest light heavyweights of that interview, I believe him.

Chuck "The Eyesman" Liddell poked Vernon, Couture and Tito. I think it was his thumb that was the issue each time.
Possibly, I googled “Chuck Liddell Punch” on images, no refreshing ice tea beverages unfortunately. My immediate thought was it was his knuckles, but this one sole image

Is all the material Teets needs. He never clarified if it was the eyepoke though. Something about how it will be more fair in another promotion, at least thats what I interpreted from the interview.

Scrub to 3:47 for eye poke.

yeah haha he was literally allowed to attack him in a cage. that's a pretty fair shake.

'He has a great background in promoting fights, some of the biggest fights in the world, and he bit on it, hook, line, and sinker. He’s in. Let’s see if we can make some history here.'

my impression of him the other day wasn't bad!

I’m starting to think “ Buy Coke and Eye Pokes” is the LHW Champ moto
It's weird though that the fan base generally has little to no memory of Chuck poking eyes but it seems to be the first thought when mentioning Jones.

Interwebs and tweeter.

And to be fair my first thought of Jones is T Boning a lady and then coming back for money.

Also because most didn’t complain about Chuck’s, or his wasn’t as frequent as Jones. Jones just sticks his hand out, where Chuck’s were most likely accidental behind punches

sure, an inadvertent eye poke initiated the finishing sequence in the first fight, but the outcome was inevitable. Another 10 or 15 seconds and Chuck would have ended it at the end of the first round before the poke happened.
