GSP is the eternal WW champion, he never lost the belt.

Now he's the eternal MW champion, having never lost the belt.

Nobody could take those belts from him.

Did he ever cheat? No. Was he a great representation of the sport? Yes.

It's hard to argue

He avenged his losses and cleared his division. Won his first fight back in a title fight a division heavier after years away.

I could sit and argue about it but when I think about it there's nobody who stakes a better claim for it.

I'd say he definitely is the greatest MMA fighter the sport has seen so far, despite his camp accent

Nah, i think he's a bit of a fraud. Clearing juicing most of his career and then went running from the MW division because he knew he'd get smashed by a legit contender. He beat the MW version of Matt Serra ffs.

After 4 years off and coming into a fight with anyone in the UFC is a tough challenge.


Pretty hard to dispute medical fact/diagnosis of colitis. He is absolutely not running away.

The fact is that GSP had a chance to hold two belts simultaneously, but he was scared of Anderson so he never did it.

Meanwhile, the real GOAT, the only person to ever hold two belts simultaneously, won both of his titles via KO.

All the other contenders have fallen from grace. This is the only guy left.

  • Fought arguably most competitive division at the time
  • Pulls a lot of viewers
  • Great ambassador for the sport, there is NO better
