UFC on Fox ratings are something to worry about

The numbers from last night's show STINK!

Saturday night’s UFC on FOX 27 show headlined by Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza’s first-round TKO win over Derek Brunson drew the lowest overnight ratings in the history of the series.

The show, strong on action but weak on star power, did 1.593,000 viewers and an 0.5 rating in the key 18-49 demo. The number was a 21-percent drop from the same show last year and a 35-percent drop from two years ago. Making that worse is that this is the UFC’s contract negotiation period with the current FOX deal expiring at the end of this year.

The article above mentions the lack of "star power" on the card, but the UFC on Fox 26 card in December was headlined by Robbie Lawler vs. Raphael Dos Anjos and it also got poor ratings.

UFC on FOX 26 overnight ratings returned 1.78 million viewers with an 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demo on the fast nationals, according to MMA Fighting, making it the lowest number ever for the sixth annual December network prime time special, and third lowest ever.

Worry? Not me. I love it. Don't get me wrong, I want the UFC to succeed and flourish, but if low ratings means they have to change a few things, I'm good with them. If low ratings force them to blow up the PPV model, reduce the over saturation, significantly cut the roster, and increase promotion of more top fighters, then let those ratings plummet for now.

Last night's card was extremely poor for a FOX card - even I wasn't amped for it and I was super excited to watch Bektic and Gillespie. Problem is, outside of fans like us in these forums, nobody even knows who those guys are.

lol holy shit that was on FOX? ...I actually could have watched it.

The only fight I was interested in was Jacare Vs. Brunson, I didn't even bother going outside getting some fresh air and hopping in my canoe to stream the rivers last night ...had no interest at all.


UFC messed up bad by devaluing their belts, that lost a lot of fans interests. They also messed up by super hyping up fighters like they were once in a life time humans ...only problem is they would go out and get their ass spanked ..taking away any credibility they may have had. No fans don't bother listening to the UFC / Joe Rogan bullshit hype machine. Super Fights ...you can only do that for so long before there are no more Super Fights left because you failed to build up a stable of fighters.


The Ratings are finally starting to reflect the UFC's poor decision making of the past 5 years, the numbers will continue to drop off the table and the only way to regroup and recover is if they make a legitimate attempt to build up their Belts / Rankings system.

Several fights on here that I'm excited to watch, but once again, they're not names for a FOX card. The UFC is wasting the potential that they have in airing fights on network television. Cards like these aren't going to expand their audience at all unless some random dude happens to stumble upon Emmett and Stephens throwing bombs at each other.
