What post ratings would you like to see? Can you help me with the icons?

So we changed "likes" to a rating system that lets you rate a post things like 'informative' or 'funny' or 'agree'.

I can add new ratings.

We are considering 'random' or 'cockblocker' or anything else.

I'd like to add a few more and may reduce one or two that are there right now if we aren't using them (to keep things uncluttered and to keep things shaped right on small mobile).

Thoughts? Ideas for icons for those ratings?

Is there a reason we can justify handing out Steven Seagal heads to each other?

This would be EPIC. Random funny one's would be great...they don't have to mean anything lol. Another one could be the Rashad face (from the Machida KO).

maybe im in the minority here, but i kind of liked the old system of just a simple "like."

I think the agree and disagree buttons will get abused by people. The cool thing about this site is that you can go against the grain and post your real thoughts and not one that adheres to the majority without getting flamed.

I remember agreeing with I wild each it that i didn't believe Anderson Silva was the p4p best and that the middleweight division was as great as the others. Now with these ratings on the other forum that post would get us huge disagree check marks. And then what would be the point of that stat? That we should be more agreeable?

I think its better that if someone disagrees that they and make a post stating their opinion. If you like something you can state why. Pressing a button similar to the chat might mean less posts. You could go throw a whole list of posts and just click: agree, disagree, disagree, agree, agree etc and not make one post.

I share the same concerns. That's why all of the options are rated as positive. And disagree is rated as 'neutral'. We can consider removing it too under the idea of, if you don't have something nice to say, STFU?

I want to keep the rating option variety as I think its fun to interact with, gives our lurkers a way to participate over nothing and in the future I can use the ratings to help either sort or give trophies. How cool if you can have a way point for being known as the guy that consistently makes informative posts? or funny? or whatever.

Just some thoughts, but I share any concern that will increase people shitting on others.

yeah putting "disagree" under the "neutral" heading is kind of confusing since all posts are basically neutral to begin with. I think people will eventually catch on that neutral is actually disagree points. kind of reminds me of the other site where people would get voted down like crazy for just sharing their opinion that the majority would not like. When a mod would look it over in some dispute they would think the person was trolling when they were just simply giving take on something and the poor sap would get frozen.

and i knew someone would press disagree on my stance on disagree haha. well played ole chap.

We could just remove the disagree and leave the others.
yeah that could be a pretty cool idea. I guess it depends on how the other members feel on this too.

I see why LOAW is saying and I do agree but we should allow other members to have the option to disagree as the forum shouldn't be a wonderland feel. Is there a way that if you hit disagree it forces you to leave some sort of comment or it won't process?

You have the option to disagree when you post, and then your disagreement can be judged on the merits of the argument that accompany it.

I agree lol, seriously. All I meant is it might keep lurkers from just going around and hitting the disagree button whether its actually how they feel or if its just to be a dick. If you disagree usually its nice to post a reason why and generate some discussion.

yeah i think its probably better to quote and voice your displeasure than to just hit a button.

on a side note how come our disagree numbers still add on when the disagree button is no longer there?

i remember when i would log in my disagree/neutral was in the single digits but in the last few days it went in the double digits. or has the number changed to represent something else?

also what do the points mean?

hehe. im wondering where this secret disagree button is now.
I wouldn't worry about the points. Unless you have 170 rainbows like Priziesthorse @Priziesthorse, then you are clearly doing fine, if you do, well, you are probably a lost cause like him and are beyond worrying anyway. :D

oh the points are trophy points.. ahh it makes sense. It just says points when you log in. I wasn't sure what score we were keeping there. Like some carnival game or something.
