But if you want to look at the bright side:
  • Republican leaders in the House and Senate say they will consider proposals including raising age restrictions for gun purchases and the red-flag bill regarding temporarily taking away someone's guns if they are deemed a threat to others.
  • A Florida Senate committee endorsed a proposal to put law enforcement officers in every school in the state.

The state legislature is dominated by Conservatards. It could've been the most incredible bill ever and it still would've been defeated (but I get that they had to at least try).

There has already been a L.E.O. in all public schools in the state since I was in high school (15-20 years ago).

It's a feel good red herring that just entrenches the opposition more against reforms that will actually change something.

Ban assault weapons and Parkland looks like VA tech or Columbine.

Get guns out of the wrong hands period.

Whatever you think we should do with pistols or other centerfire rifles with detachable magazines it what we should do with "assault weapons".

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, he argues, needs money and orders to go effectively after gun-dealers who overlook fishy sales.

It would also help if straw purchasers were punished more harshly. According to Harold Pollack at the University of Chicago, who conducted interviews with inmates of Cook County jail, the country’s biggest, for a study he co-wrote on the provenance of their weapons, most got their guns through a family member or a friend, rather than stealing them or buying them directly.

When bird hunting, we always have an AR in case we see some hog to clean up.

Other places that need to clean up varmints or coyotes apparently do the same, though that's not something we have a lot of issue with on this end of Texas

We use ARs for varmint hunting as well. Sometimes coyote hunting requires a lot of walking and a light AR is ideal when you’re sneaking around on hundreds of acres of farmland.

I also have a .338 Lapua for long range big game, but apparently that’s cool with the left because it doesn’t have a scary pistol grip.
