Report: Conor negotiations with UFC going well, with the possibility of two UFC fights in 2018 | BodySlam.net

From Dave Meltzer’s Newsletter (Subscription required)

The word is that negotiations with Conor McGregor are going well.
No deal to return has been inked but they are said to be not so far apart and are in talks about him doing two fights in 2018.

All the pub right now is Mayweather under MMA rules but I can’t see Mayweather agreeing to that, even though it’s huge money.
The UFC fight idea is the winner of Tony Ferguson vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov

F-NYC take:
Great to hear that negotiations are progressing.
As reported HERE, Artem Lobov believes UFC put him on the UFC 223 card in hopes Conor will be there to see Khabib vs Tony fight for the interim lightweight title.
Regarding Conor vs Mayweather, look at my exclusive report HERE.

If conor/may happens again, it will be boxing inside the octagon
If conor returns to mma, it will be vs gsp and I'd say end of May for his return

I don't see either
Deff not GSP
You see him facing khabib or Tony?
If khabib wins I could see the big ppv in Russia they're apparently pushing for (I've heard but not positive)

I'm a huge Tony fan, I just don't think the money is there for conor to do that fight

Yes, I said (not on here) that UFC was not stripping Conor bc they would wait up until Tony/Khabib to see if he signs & to see if that fight actually happens.
Also Artem Lobov is on the card with them & he thinks it is due to UFC wanting Conor at the fight as I reported HERE
So while not 100% things look headed in that direction

Agree 100% on why they're not stripping conor and have said that exact reason on here

Personally I'd love for Tony to get that fight, just have felt gsp/conor is the biggest fight they could make and that's why i keep thinking about it

You definitely have more insight into this than I though

I more meant you pay attention to it more
I remember a bunch of what I read and see but you really go in depth with it and make what they are doing somewhat make sense lol

Cool ... I'll take that lol

But I hate others that make like they are more "inside" than they are
Truth is I maybe spoke with ten or so known fighters & sadly they combined no less about the business than we do

Agreed if Conor/Mayweather happens in Octagon it will probably be under a limited rule set. I can't see Floyd agreeing to anything less but even if it's purely striking (not restricted to boxing only), I can see Conor taking the W.

Floyd will never agree to anything that isn't a pure boxing match, which he'll never get in the UFC.

My guess is that Conor destroys the Ferguson-Khabib winner and then fights Nate for a third time.

wme said they are getting into boxing ... might do a hybrid event

if conor even accepts a fight vs either of those two, he redeems himself for his immature behavior outside the ring (which i'm sure he'll redeem himself of regardless over time)

if he WINS against either of those two, i would actually start considering him one of the GOATs (which i dont right know...not even close)

Conor should fight Nate before mid year. Then fight the winner of Khabib/Tony near the end of the year. Even if he loses the belt, he still has super fights he can do with Floyd in MMA or GSP. Take those fights over the next couple of years and bow out.

IMO... Conor fights 2-3 more times in his MMA career. He will fight the Khabib/Tony winner. Win or lose he will face either GSP or Nate, either of which would be his best MMA payday opportunity. If he wins that fight, he faces the other; if he loses, he walks away.
I do see him boxing again against either Manny > Paulie > Oscar (in order from most to least likely).
