Hi, 40 year old 3 stripe white belt here...on my 4th training restart - i first started 15 years ago when the highest grade in my area was a new blue. Only making 1-2 classes a week, so my progress is slow and sometimes frustrating but i love to train!
Welcome.

42 year old father of two BJJ crazy kids (Boys, 8 & 10).
Discovered BJJ 6 months before my lower back shat itself.

Had disc fusion (L5/S1) and replacement (L4).

No BJJ for me - except driving kids to and from the gym (Axis affiliate) and it fucking sucks.
I was never going to excel at it but absolutely loved it. Pity i didn't discover it 20 years earlier but I was a bloody idiot then so who knows.

I love watching my sons go through their journeys and stay involved that way. It's my personal mission in life not to become the overbearing sports dad living vicariously through his children.

Just bumping this so new folks can introduce themselves. I know you want to, so just do it.

My dream is for someone to photoshop a Gi on him while he does this video. Do it!!!

36 yr old white belt could have gotten stripes but I missed the grading

My opinion doesn't count so I'll just stay over here and read.
I'm on the same boat... well your post was awhile ago so I'm sure you've improved but I'm a 34 year old white belt. Started last year but was out for awhile with shoulder surgery but going consistently ever since the new year. I train at Caio Terra Academy in Downtown San Jose. I do see Caio sometime but I usually go to Yuri Simoes' class which IMO is a lot tougher. But other than my renowned instructors I'll keep my mouth shut until I earn a blue belt.
